Kasich, AOC spar ahead of ex-GOP governor's DNC speech

Kasich suggested Ocasio-Cortez receives 'outsized publicity' because of her 'extreme' politics

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and 2016 GOP presidential candidate John Kasich traded barbs ahead of the former Ohio governor's Monday night speech at the Democratic National Convention.

Kasich, who will be speaking out against President Trump, his one-time rival during the 2016 primary, said during an interview with Buzzfeed News that he thinks the U.S. is "moderate" and that "extreme" politicians -- like New York Democrat Ocasio-Cortez -- receive "outsized publicity."

"You know, I listen to people all the time make these statements, and because AOC gets outsized publicity doesn't mean she represents the Democratic Party," Kasich said. "She's just a part, just some member of it. And it's on both sides, whether it's the Republicans or whether it's the Democrats.”

Ocasio-Cortez, who backed Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders during the Democratic primary, fired back in a tweet, accusing Kasich of "fighting against women's rights."

“It’s great that Kasich has woken up &realized the importance of supporting a Biden-Harris ticket," she wrote. "I hope he gets through to GOP voters. Yet also, something tells me a Republican who fights against women’s rights doesn’t get to say who is or isn’t representative of the Dem party.”

Awww ..... such a big boo hoo. He hurt my feelings. Little children thinking their important in this world.

Wow, looks like Baltimore needs a lot of work. I assume Republicans are chomping at the bit to provide all that funding needed to make it better. You know, things like building quality affordable housing, greater funds for education and drug addiction treatment, childcare support so single mothers can join the workforce, money for better parks. Right? That sounds like stuff Republicans are 100% in support of.

So you were smarter back then. Knew all that glue sniffing would catch up to you.
No I grew out of my Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck stage in my life and started reading Kenneth Waltz, Barry Goldwater, George Will, Milton Friedman, George C.Marshall and Edmund Burke.

Are you referring to the cities that are allowing the protestors to destroy the cities? If so then hell yes I do.

If all you care about in each city is the government and you're a person who doesn't matter, then I would understand putting this take out there.

If you are a person who cares at all about people in these cities who are not responsible for their rotting, you should not agree with this take.

If you are the leader of the country where this is happening, and you care about being a good leader, you cannot have this take.

Whitey left the house long ago and ain’t coming back and no amount of money can fix it. But hey, knock yourself out and rock on.

Nah...nothing you list should be the responsibility of the fed.

So how are Republicans going to make Baltimore better for its black citizens. Capital gains tax cuts? Awesome! I'm sure that'll benefit the occupants of the homes we saw in that ad. Cuts to Medicare and Medicaid? Brilliant! That'll clean those slums. Further cuts to education? Fantastic! What better way for poor black kids to learn than using dated and tattered textbooks in a crumbling, mold-infested school. I'm glad the GOP is the party of ideas!
