2020 Presidential Race

What is so disturbing about this "fact" is the cherry picking. In Obama's second to last year (2015) the deficit was down to under 500 Billion for the year (his lowest). His cumulative total of debt added was 8.6 Trillion for his 8 years. Quite the fiscal hawk, there.
Bush was almost 6 trillion
clinton, bush, reagan were all under 2 trillion.

Do better.

I worked in the same place I do now, for the 8 years Biden was the Vice President. Whoever wins, it really doesn't have as much of an impact on our daily lives as some fear-mongering people like to think.
Is this a joke? Of course you are right. But you should tell your second personality that. You know, the one that has been running your account since 2016.

Sure Ras. Politicians buy votes. Have you seen how everyone reacts when we start talking about cutting their sacred cow???

I don't know if debt can simply be discharged or not. I am simply stating the economic reality of other countries who fell off the path we are currently on.

I would love a relatively painless way out of 30T in debt. I just don't know it it is possible.
It will not be painless. Even in a debt jubilee, there are creditors or bondholders on the other side of those debts. That means big pension funds most likely.

We all want clean air and water. Problem is, countries like China and India are harming the environment 50X worse than the USA. All of the environmental protestors here are in the wrong country.

Leaders lead. Followers follow.

US should lead by example. Else, it's do as we say, not as we do.

I was speaking more to the impact of a President's policies. You are talking about the vandalism and looting of fanatics. Not truly related to the candidate's themselves. I don't blame Trump for the way his supporters were acting in Texas when they attacked a Biden campaign bus.

Can't be serious?

That's a very painful, very dangerous (for our Republic) way to go about it. But, I guess we simply get closer to this reality each year.

It will make the Great Depression look like a holiday on a cruise ship by comparison.
China is in a similar situation. The difference is that they spent all of their debt on building infrastructure. We spent our on social programs and propping up a stock market. Would you rather be a country with a revitalized infrastructure that can hit the ground running on the other side of this or a country with an aging infrastructure?

I would rather be a country that is solvent and financially strong.

These numbers seem very attainable. Florida publishes live data and Trump would already seem to be exceeding this.

I just don't trust PA. They've been pretty open about doing whatever necessary to win. I think they'll mysteriously find a pile of ballots to push him over the top. They've been pretty much open about their intention to cheat.

We should be paying more for petroleum products. We need to ween ourselves off them.

And if you don't believe in global warming, then you don't believe in science.

I’ll pay your “ petroleum products “ bill if you will pay mine . Let’s see if you keep that same ideology and who screams uncle first . That’s the equivalent of me saying everyone who fishes more than I do should pay more to fish because there are other alternatives .

I think we are leading. I work in the power industry and the environmental regs have really gotten tighter over the past 10 years. Coal power plants are being demolished and new ones are NOT being built because of the penalties.
