2020 Target List

Why would any of the top 20 guys consider Drew in light of his 0fer in the SEC? His highly ranked recruits aren’t developing. And please don’t say he lost one freshman and that justifies losing every league game

These guys would be maybe 2x per decade type recruits for TN in the past. Vols really are shopping on a different aisle of late.

Four-star junior guard Jordan Rawls set for big spring, summer

The offers are from Ole Miss and Kansas State. He also has heavy interest from Tennessee, Mississippi State, Iowa and Georgia. In terms of visits, Rawls has only been on unofficial visits.

“I’m trying to take one to Ole Miss early in the off-season but no official visits yet,” he said. “I’ve been to Tennessee a couple of times.”

How was the visit to Tennessee?
“It was good,” he said. “Love the atmosphere, love the coaches. Feel like Tennessee would be a great place to be.”

Rawls, a four-star recruit, is ranked No. 67 overall and as the No. 9 point guard in the 2020 recruiting class.

Interesting to note that last year Rawls, Ambrose, Ruzhentsev and Jitoboh all played together eat HHCA. This year everyone excepts Ambrose is still at HHCA, not sure if that’s been discussed at all amongst those players or Tennessee coaches but not often you see a HM college recruiting 4 guys from the same school.

Where is Ambrose now?

Prep school in Ohio...I don’t recall the exact details but a rule was passed that greatly effected Canadian players in the US because of their grade system, essentially (from what I remember) every Canadian player in the US lost a year of high school eligibility so HHCA has a couple Canadian players that were forced to leave and find a prep school.

Weird. His profiles haven't been updated either. I wonder if this has anything to do with his decision to possibly reclassify?

Oddly, it would seem that we don't really need another 6-6ish wing in 2019 with Gaines already in the fold (though in all honesty, I'd prefer Ambrose). With Pons, Johnson, Gaines, and Josiah James, although he is more versatile, it would seem like we have multiple copies of the same type of player already. Not to mention we have to like our chances currently with Corey Walker in 2020. If we end up taking another kid in 2019, I'd hope it was a big man (Walker Kessler). But, I guess if we can't land him, the decision becomes one of taking the best player available, or holding the scholarship.

Yea I don’t think they’re recruiting him for 2019, JMO though.

Keon Johnson might be a possibility but if he keeps winning he’ll be playing for a state title next Saturday.
As noted above, expect this list to possibly grow particularly with the potential to add a couple of 2021 visitors.
One last thing, this was discussed on the board a couple of weeks ago when he unofficially visited for the Florida game, but don’t completely forget about big man Jason Jitoboh at Hamilton Heights in Chattanooga. I don’t think the Vols are pushing for him as a member of the 2019 class based on recent conversations I’ve had, but I do think they’d potentially have some interest if he would take a prep year.
He officially visited Louisville in the fall but currently doesn’t appear to be a take for the Cardinals. If he wants to play at this level for a Power Five team, and word is that he does, then prep school may be an option that he explores.
