2021 Lady Vol Recruiting Thread

I don't think UConn offered her. They have been in her high school many times to get Aaliyah Edwards, so they definitely knew about her. I thought it was strange they didn't, but perhaps it was because they already had Deberry for 2021.

I don’t see her lying about receiving a scholarship offer back in June. She is a top15 player and was a position of need at the time.

I think 3 would be the target number of recruits but I could see us taking 4. If Miles and/or Rivers wants to come I'd sign them in a heartbeat. But i dont think they're coming, so my 'realistic wishlist' is...

- Latasha Lattimore: We lose Brown and Harris so a post player is needed. Lattimore is very athletic and rebounds like she belongs on Rocky Top. I really want her in orange.
- Jersey Wolfenbarger: 6"3 guard who can play 1-3. She attacks the basket and is unselfish. Can we get her to commit? I really like her game and how calm she always seems.
- Aubryanna Hall: Another guard from Ohio possibly... Hall has previously visited and seems to be a great fit. Athletic, great defender. Kinda reminds me of Zaay. Would be a great addition, our defense on the perimeter would definitely be improved.
- Teonni Key: Like Jersey, Key is 6'3 and versatile. She can play 1-4 and would be a great understudy to Re. Key does it all and she's a great rebounder from the guard position. She's #1 on my list.

Thanks. I've been looking for that and couldn't find it. That's why I said 'I don't think she ...' I thought anyone would be interested. But I've read that they aren't recruiting her anymore.

Another one that confuses me is the posts of Saniya Rivers with the UConn logo. She is on record as saying "I used to be a UConn fan. But now all I can think about is that I want to beat them." Sounds like she belongs in orange.

I don’t venture to this forum very often but I had a question. Did Holly even recruit Rhyne Howard from Kentucky? Any details would be appreciated.

UConn did not offer a scholarship to Lattimore. They wrote a letter of interest (as they do other kids who don't ultimately get offers) but didn't spend any time on her. Their primary target in Canada was Edwards and they of course were targeting DeBerry in 2021. They also really like another post in the 2021 class. Kids often interpret letters of interest as "offers."

So you're patronizing kids by saying they don't know the difference between a letter of interest and an offer?

Thanks, i think that clears it up for me and @VA_VOLFAN

Actually run into that situation before. It's not that uncommon. Remember, unless they have an older sibling who was recruited, this is all new to them and their parents. So Nope, not patronizing. Just the facts. One young lady recently posted over 30 school logos. Not all were offers, just introductions.

I don't know of another post in 2021, just a 5'11 guard and a 6'2" wing. In 2022 they are after Betts and NNaji

Key can play 1 through 4 and so can Puckett. Striplin is more of a post player and we lose Harris and Brown this season plus also KK next class. We have two guards coming in the next class Salary and Darby to join Green Massengill and Horston. I'm not saying we may not need to sign any other player but I would take all three of these players in the same class two are very versatile and one although mostly a post has an outside shot that really would be beneficial to any team.

The team would look like this:

PG-Massengill, Horston, Green
2G-Salary, Darby, Rennie
3F-Key, Burrell, Puckett
PF-Striplin, certainly would take Lattamore in the post positions.
C-Key, Saunders

Haven't seen much of Wolfenburger but like you said does not look real receptive to the Lady Vols, Rivers looks like a long shot, Verhulst even though rated higher does not look as good as Puckett or Key of film. The three choices are mostly players I feel we have at least a 50 percent chance of getting of course we want turn down any top rated player that decides first. Also we can't wait on players if others are ready to commit. We'll see how it all goes down the main point I was making about these three players is that they are totally underrated in this class.
The younger Key, she is not physically built to play 4. She is long and very lean. And, looks very quick, a slasher. She will rebound off leaping and quickness, but she has zero girth for being a 4

They like Hollingshead but I'm not sure of the extent of Hollingshead's interest in UConn.

BTW, HG 2022 #3 Brady out of CA just committed to UConn. She's 6-4 and visited with DeBerry in early Nov.

Wow. UCONN is going to have some talent the next few years. I hope these recruits realize that Geno does not go that deep in the bench no matter how good you were coming out of high school.

This sucks. I was really hoping UConn wouldn't get size. I'm sure he'll have some transfers, but with that pile of talent, the ones he'll have left will be damn good.

Truth. But I also read he's excited to be getting so many good players starting next year and being able to play all (most) of them. We will see what kind of liar he is...

When he has had a deep and talented roster he will go 9-10 deep in a rotation. No lie about that. He just hasn't had that luxury in a while.

Sounds like Geno is about to go on another of those 3-4 strait National Champs in a row again! 😡

That's the plan. Let them push each other in practice. UConn lost about 5 or 6 years of all out recruiting while Geno was engaged in USA basketball and had an assistant coach change. Your now seeing the recruiting machine in full affect working the players from the 8th grade. Depending on Azzzi Fudd's decision, this season of parity may be over.
