2022 Depth Chart Speculation

#76
The DLine will rotate often and show the biggest improvement on the team in 2022, regardless of who starts.

This improved DLine will make the whole DUnit better across the board, which might lead to the best defense we've had here in years - excellent depth.

I think that's really good. I still like Simmons over Eason but both will play a lot. And I think Sampson will be the third string running back.

Looks pretty good. Kingston Harris is not on the team anymore. Im also not sure on the backup center. It could be Addison Nichols, but possibly Carvin. Either way Nichols and Lane will be some of the first interior lineman off the bench no matter where Carvin is playing.

On defense I think we have guys in Bumphus, Bailey, and Eason who could play either SDE or slide down to DT opposite Thomas, Terry or Simmons. I’ve also heard chatter of Baron playing DT on some 3rd down packages to get the best pass rushers on the field at the same time.

Also think Joshua Josephs is slightly ahead of Pearce at DE, but other than that I think you’re spot on.

Very similar depth chart as I expect maybe flipping Eason with Simmons and not sure if Bailey is playing on the interior or not… also have turnage starting game 1 just because hadden missed some camp time but I like our top 4 corners n if Burrell has not figured it out hadden and Charles will be just fine… I also think holiday will return kicks just because our Wr depth is much greater than our Rb depth GBO 🍊🍊🍊

Updated based on feedback in this thread, practice reports, podcasts, and Dixon subtraction.
McCoy moves up to #1 opposite Tillman.
I think Hadden has won the CB spot opposite Burrell. I think we have 4 legit CBs so if any struggle we can make a move.
I still don't understand the lack of commentary on Slaughter.

So... Speculation vs Reality
Tennessee releases depth chart for season opener against Ball State

Surprises:
No Brandon Turnage in the 2 deep. Ku Garland way further up the chart than I thought.
Some of the backups are backing up slightly different positions, which could be highly flexible. (Like Lane at left guard may be first off the bench at right guard as well.)
Squirrel's listed weight is barely more than an actual squirrel. I hope he's a flying squirrel.

KUROTT GARLAND IS A DOG !!

I believe he redshirted last year to get more playing time this year.

He has played LOTS over the past several years and RGarner is expecting much improved DLine play this year.

Go Vols !

No he played all last year

you are correct - i was thinking of LBumphus

2021 - RS-JUNIOR - Kurott Garland
Appeared in all 13 games with two starts on the season, setting career-highs with two TFLs and one sack … Started in the TransPerfect Music City Bowl vs. Purdue (12/30) and logged one unassisted tackle … Had two tackles in win vs. Vanderbilt (11/27) ... Made three tackles, recorded his first-career sack for a safety and set a career high with 2.0 TFLs in win vs. South Alabama (11/20) ... Made one tackle vs. No. 1 Georgia (11/13) ... Had a season-high four tackles at No. 4 Alabama (10/23) ... Made first start of the year (DT) in win vs. South Carolina (10/9) ... Made three tackles in win vs. Tennessee Tech (9/18) ... Tallied an unassisted tackle vs. Pitt (9/11) ... Had one tackle in season-opening win vs. Bowling Green (9/2).
