2022 Instate Recruiting Crop Could be Historically Strong

I don't see Tee's son coming to Tennessee. I very well may be wrong, be great if I am. The biggest hurdle for signing these recruits, IMO, is what happens with the investigation. If Tennessee gets hammered, don't see much hope for signing any of them, but if it's probation, and loss of a few scholarships, and bowl ban for a couple of years, maybe not so bleak.

Tee's son was never coming here

The beauty of the 2022 class is that while the top 10 is better than in past years... the strength of the class is in the kids in that second tier of prospects that don't have a ton of notoriety yet. Many solid SEC prospects are in that group

This class is deep with talent. We need all the instate kids we can get to build a good foundation of talent.

I beg to differ. I bet he would have. He very well may have dual sported it. Likely changing positions in college at FB. Would have liked to see him in Orange.
Why? He's not a very good QB. And that's all he can play in football position wise.

I greatly respect Tee, but his son isn't half the athlete or QB he was. Amari certainly is just as good or better tho.

If Tennessee could grab 10 of the top 15 recruits in state I would consider it a success considering what all has gone on...new staff, investigation, and 3-7 record...GBO!

I see 5 composite 4 stars in the top 250. 3 4-stars beyond that.

Based on recruiting rankings, this class is very average.

no doubt. heard the same thing on one of the shows. usually the new staff shows up and there's a shell of previous staffs there for transitional information. We cleaned house and there's no one to connect the dots. We are historically behind. Doesn't mean they can't catch up, but I think it would be a MAJOR win if we picked up half of them. You know Clemson, UGA, Bama, Ohio St, are all over our top 5.
Actually, usually the first full class is the bump class. You can sell vision, optimism, and get get recruits excited about future staffs, known as the bump class, normally the best class for some coaches. 6/11 should be the goal of the top 11 in TN. Don’t see getting both QBs, so basically 6/10 would be a good haul.

We're facing scholarship losses, no bowl games for 2-3 years and there may be other things. Even with the promise of early playing time, the negative recruiting for us will be at an all time high. Early signing day will not help. There are a bunch of factors working against JH & staff. I'd be surprised if we were even the top 3 for half of the top 10 in-state targets.

Tennessee has talent. We be aight. (Not in cornbread sense).
I think we're all pretty aware that the talent has been rising in TN for the past two decades. Still a pretty average class. Could it be "historically strong"? Sure. But not if we're going off recruiting rankings...

1) Nolen ( 6'4 300 DT)
2) Simpson (6'2 190 QB)
3) Kaydin Pope (6'1 172 WR)
4) Hayden (5'11 195 RB)
5) J James (5'10 205 RB)
6) K Jones (6'0 190 ATH mich commit)
7) K Wade (6'4 220 OLB)
8) K Paul (6'1 200 ATH)
9) J Hood (6'8 350 OL)
10) A Brown (6'2 195 DB)

All of these guys need to wear Big Orange come Feb 2022.
This is based on me looking at their tapes.
There are other guy in-state too that are really good. (Destin Wade, Jaylen Lewis, Isiah Horton, and Barion Brown that all are SEC athletes. Brown is really good, and could make my top 10 easily.

Doubt we land very many of those. The administration waited way too long to fire Pruitt. JH and his staff have not had time to properly build the necessary relationships. We will land a few but the vast majority will go to other schools imo.

It’s not going to be JHs fault. Rather the actions of an inept admin.

I think historically strong means compared to previous instate classes. And I think it’s based on Simpson and Nolen.

You’re forgetting how this works

3 stars from our state are always far better than the ones from GA, AL, NC according to most TN fans lol

That being said we will clean up in state. The rankings might show average but most of that middle area of kids have a ton of other SEC offers and other big P5 schools. This class legitimately is a lot better than the last one, and better than 2020 which was pretty good

It's a long way to signing day. There's plenty of time for the staff to form relationships. I suspect many recruits will want to wait to see what the team looks like in the fall.

This Covid thing has probably been working in our favor. These recruits haven't been able to visit campuses for close to a year now. That levels the playing field a bit, imo.
