2022 Recruits

Ok a clean slate again. Back to the portal.

I think that’s our plan anyhow. Just seems most logical at this point. It’s also a very viable place to pick up experienced, talented players. There are a couple names in there already that could really help us. I think Coach Joy and Coach Sam are about to starting drawing some really talented players to Knoxville. Love their energy on the recruiting trail. We have a presence again!

I used to think recruiting international players was a quasi failure of a schools recruiting ability like when south Carolina had a bunch back in the late 90's and stunk as a team but as hoops become a passion overseas, there are some really good players getting developed and coming out. One thing for sure, the international players come here for that American undergraduate degree. It is a huge advantage when competing for jobs overseas after basketball.

South Carolina made the elite 8 and Sweet 16 during that period, but it fell apart.

I'm concerned about our assistant coaches....Kelly needs to close the deal when they get these big time recruits on campus. How long will those coaches stick around when after all that work those girls go somewhere else?.Their salaries, and reputation is on the line....If they aren't getting some commits they are no better than Lacy.

It could also be school rankings and the allure of a more “cosmopolitan“ experience. The UC system’s generally well regarded and has a number of competitive programs spread all across its highly ranked institutions. Now, as to whether or not those rankings are entirely accurate, I leave to some other person to research and evaluate. You could have quite the time disassembling both the fairness and the bias in those sorts of things.

Add the numerous activities and experiences available in Southern California and one could see why a player, particularly an international player looking at the US from an external vantage, might focus on it. Basketball, school, warm beaches, international travel, etc.

Or, perhaps the LVs and other power programs didn't believe she was a special talent. to be perfectly blunt I personally don't put much credience on any boarders wishes and preferences. What was telling was the posting of her interest in playing in the US. It read like a travel advertisement.
