2023 SEC post-spring football power rankings

I think these are fair rankings. GA and Bama at the top just bc of talent levels. TN and LSU next bc they are building after very strong seasons.

Bc this is Volnation I’ll give my early thoughts on the Vols. They haven’t yet had time to catch up on a talent level, but their offensive scheme could potentially put them in the mix. I honestly think it depends on QB play. If Milton plays close to where Hooker did they will not be an easy win for anyone. Going to Tuscaloosa will be tough, but hopefully Bama is truly having problems at QB so who knows. They get GA in Neyland, and that should help tremendously. Two very tough games, but not crazy to hope or think they win one of them. I think it comes down to the QB for the Vols to have a shot.

As for my Dawgs, I similarly think it comes back to QB play. No doubt they will be tough to beat. Just a crazy amount of talent. But if they get great QB play it’s going to be extremely hard to beat them. Also the schedule is favorable, or so it certainly seems.

I will admit that TN seems to be getting back to there old ways. Much improved recruiting and a very dangerous offense. That’s saying a lot bc it’s tough right now to be competing with Bama and GA in your prime recruiting grounds. This makes it a very hard task to turn things around. I do think that if the Vols have a season that rivals last season it very much helps. And if somehow they do better, it could really open things up. Main thing to me for future Vols success is definitely win the games you should, and be competitive with the teams that have u at a talent disadvantage. If you win one of these it’s like icing on the cake, but don’t get run out of the stadium. I honestly think this is very possible with really good play at QB with the Vols offense. And as talent gets better, things could quickly start looking much better.

It's hard to believe they've fallen so far and missed on so many coaching hires. Napier really needs to show progress next year or those people will panic and he becomes a lame duck heading into his third year.

Until I saw the name Napier, I thought you were talking about us.

You’re living in the past. It has been several years since a “game manager” was enough to win down there. Hurts, Tua, and Mac are all NFL guys, and Bryce will be soon. If they don’t figure the qb situation out by the TSIO it could be ugly for them.
I swear I thought I saw someone mention Mac as a game manager in another thread a few days ago. He didn’t get the publicity because of the timing but his 2020 season was very Burrow-like, only he didn’t have out of conference cupcakes to help pad stats.
