2023 Target List

Vols may not be done in 2022…
It’s Dilione, he mentions it in this interview yesterday that scone schools are talking to him about coming 2022. He immediately mentions VCU & Tennessee when asked which schools are on him the hardest, talks glowingly about his visit to Knoxville as well.

Video was posted in his player thread, as well, where I commented on it. I had the same reactions you did, except to also mention that he seemed to shoot down the idea of reclassifying. Maybe he's being coy, but it doesn't sound like something he's considering.

A lot of these guys say that, Awaka did as well. He may stay ‘23 but Tennessee is definitely trying to push the reclass, and considering he often mentions wanting to get to the league I would bet the pitch of getting there a year earlier wins out.

I'd have to see the actual Awaka quote to fully jog my memory, but I remember him being a little more open-minded in his phrasing around the idea of reclassifying. I may be misremembering, though.

Unless you have some other info about the likelihood of Dilione actually going thru with it, just on face value, his possibility seems a little less likely just based on his own comments. I'd actually compare his comments more to those of BHH, who obviously either changed his mind or was intentionally misleading. I understand this happens fast for some of these kids, though, and they feel the need to shoot down the rumors as they gather their own thoughts and process towards a decision.

Since you posed this idea earlier in the week prior to this interview, do you have a sense of when he'd make that decision to reclass? I assume it would have to be in the next 2-3 weeks since class starts in mid-August.

Yea BHH is another good example, or GG Jackson who is now doing it when months ago he shot it down…like I said it may not happen, but it’s on the table and what Tennessee wants.

Well, it's what I want as well, ha. I won't hold my breath, but do hope it happens. I think he is the missing link for this team. We've been needing a 2nd lead guard to split time with ZZ and it feels like Dillone might be better suited to assist out of the gate than Edwards.

Worst case is he’s not ready and we have a nice piece for the following year, best case is he’s ready to contribute and we’ve bumped our ceiling for this year.

If you had to put a percentage on him reclassifying, what would it be? I ask that fully aware that it is very much probably a guess on your part, same as it would be mine. But since you seemed to be out in front of this news, care to venture a guess?

If he picks Tennessee, 90%. If he is unsure about who the pick is then probably about 5%.

I understood Awaka was graduating HS in 2022 and was on the ZZZ track of heading towards a post grad season somewhere?

Has Dillone graduated HS already? I’m confused how these guys can get the necessary class work done to reclassify late in the process? Is it a byproduct of attending one of these HS basketball specific schools that you magically graduate whenever it best suits you?

Dillone reclassifying and picking UT, instantly makes the Vols a potential Final 4 team, imo. But, I can be overly optimistic. 6'5 PGs excite me, especially when they can score anywhere on the court

I like Coen Carr's game a lot. I hope we go all out for him if Edwards does pick UK.

Would be nice to pull
Demary, Carr, and Phillips
