2024 Presidential Race

Advisers looking at potential running mates for Kamala Harris if Biden drops re-election bid

Aides to President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris‘ campaign team have already picked out at least three Democrats who could serve as the veep’s running mate should Biden drop out of the 2024 presidential election.

At the top of the list are Govs. Roy Cooper of North Carolina, Andy Beshear of Kentucky and Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania, with Cooper the clear front-runner, according to the outlet.

North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper was tapped as the ideal candidate to help Harris win conservative voters over.

Yeah. Roy Cooper as a VP candidate is going to convince conservatives to vote for looney leftist Kamala Harris for President. I'm sure that's going to happen. The press said it was so.

I'll say it again, Republicans need to let the democrats bash Biden on his dementia. Biden will provide enough proof every time he is in the public eye.

Republicans need to put forth their plans to right the ship.

Have you not notice that both parties don't function with logic. They seem to be in a race to see who can dig the deepest hole to get stuck in.

Wondered the same.

He had some meltdown years ago and hasn't had a big role since. I don't think it had to do anything with politics.

Edit: I think this was the issues. It was back in 2017. There was really not much behind it. He is also the classic smug liberal type. Team America tore into him.

saw a D-senator (Colorado I think) calling on Biden to step down suggesting Trump might win against him in a landslide and we need to protect democracy...

do these people have any self awareness about their comments? why do politicians so frequently reveal their disdain for the citizenry?

I agree with Michael. Last time I predicted Trump would lose. This time I predict Trump will win. Even if Biden drops out, it is getting too late to push another candidate to victory.

If Trump wins, I predict our National debt will be 40T+ by the end of his term.

The best thing a new candidate can say at this point is "Hey at least I am not Trump or Biden!" Trying to campaign in states that aren't familiar with you or your policy is undoubtedly a lost cause at this point.

I will make the caveat that Michelle Obama holds enough star power to her name to make it interesting, should they convince her to replace sleepy Joe.

Bennet, saw that clip too.

I'll start by saying don't believe the leadership of either party really cares about the policies so much as they care about power. I don't believe Dem party leadership really believes the Trump is an existential threat to democracy.

I could see them punting; hoping a miracle happens and Biden wins but using a Trump victory to secure a longer term power grab. A Harris Presidency on the other hand might be so bad they put themselves out of power for a long time.

It's all games to obtain/maintain power and all the largess that comes with it. Republican leadership is the same but they got torpedoed by Trump and they'll just have to deal with it either way.

I don't know if it's 45k, but when I see these crowds it is a group of everyday people who want to believe and have hope. They are looking for greatness in America. They are passionate. Trump represents that chance to be proud in America against the people attempting to be working in overdrive to weaken it. It's like rooting for the underdog. You may go to the early rounds of the tournament without a favorite team but as the underdog starts to fight back you begin to pull for them.
When I see crowds like that I wonder why they aren't working.

Former 2024 GOP presidential candidate, U.N. Ambassador, and South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley will not be attending or speaking at this year's RNC. Haley will not be in Milwaukee as a Haley spokesman says she was not invited. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis had originally been denied a speaking time, but after a "change in schedule," will attend and participate in a Moms for Liberty panel discussion and breakfast with the Florida state delegation and also have a speaking time slot.

Kamala Harris as the top of the ticket? Seriously Clark? They must have a foolproof plan to cheat if that is their candidate.

if Ronald Reagan was the VP on that ticket I don't think she would win any conservative votes. It must be tough being loother or LG about now.

Good to see discipline from Trump and I hope it continues ...

From the article:

The debate with Joe Biden handed Trump every opportunity to gloat or run his mouth on a silver platter. He probably has countless nicknames for Biden that he could have trotted out. But he didn’t.

The Trump we’ve seen these last few weeks is a more restrained man. It’s hard to know what to make of it as a conservative, so imagine how the left is struggling with a disciplined Trump.

I'm sure he's chomping at the bit every day to say something about the Democrats' plight, but here's hoping this version of Donald Trump sticks around for a while. After all, a restrained Trump drives the left more batty than the mouthy, outspoken one.

That is something that gets lost because of how poor Joe did. That this was likely Trump’s best performance because he kept his composure

The media trying to save face now and are finally reporting on the obvious….he has Parkinson’s disease

My guess is the Democrats request of mic muting when it's not your turn to speak ended up being viewed as a massive fail on their part. Part of what makes Trump look bad is his constant interrupting and bully attempts. They took away one of the biggest things that hurt him. Joe having trouble speaking and collecting his thoughts probably wouldn't have been as impactful if he were constantly being interrupted. Instead you got multiple instances of 2 straight min of Joe struggling to answer questions, and everyone watching could witness his incapacity to think and speak clearly.

Trump's inability to interrupt and bully made him look much more composed than normal. Could he have maintained that with a live mic? Probably no. If there's another debate between these two my guess is the Democrats will instead request live mic for the debate and give moderators the ability to cut.

Agreed. Biden claimed in the interview he couldn’t concentrate because Trump kept yelling while his mic was off.

Did anyone notice that even a little?

I think it's what drove them over the top. Most would hope Trump would've lost this election in the first debate like he did the last time. Besides not moving on to answer some questions, he maintained the professionalism many had hoped to see after the 2016 campaign.

Though he still ribs on Joe, I think he feels compassion but he has a job to do and that's win this election.
