Trump has a chance to also tone things down. He has real policy advantages and if he sticks to those he should win. If he goes full divisive while Biden is going full unity Biden might still pull this off.

Immigration - the Biden policies have been an unmitigated disaster
Energy -
Regulatory -
Economic -
Even Foreign -

Only weaknesses for the vast middle of the country perspective surround abortion and his stated views are in line there too.

Check the polling on each major area - Trump has a significant lead. His overall lead is smaller than it should be because so many people see him as an unsufferable a-hole. On policy, he's far ahead.

They called him an illegitimate president.

They said he was a threat to democracy and had to be stopped.

They unleashed a legion of agents to investigate him, searched his home and broke historic barriers by indicting him.

Then they rigged a trial in a bid to put him in prison.

They called him un-American and worse. Their lawyers and activists fought to keep him off the fall ballots in a dozen blue states as a way — get this — to defend democracy.

They are still trying to bankrupt him and confiscate his businesses.

The incumbent, meanwhile, a shell of his former self, is reduced to shouting slurs at MAGA Republicans as if they are freaks from another planet. He no longer seems to recognize them as part of the American fabric, you know, the one he promised to unite when he took the oath.

There’s a balance for sure, but most admins really never seem to hit the balance us avg Joes might have in mind. At least I haven’t found one yet. My biggest concern is the debt…and absolutely no one has helped us there since Clinton and the Republican Congress.

As much of a sleaze as Clinton is, he has a deeply informed knowledge of applied economics. He studied while in office, like most Presidents have that served two terms. It's important to go into morning meetings informed on the issues. It's a part of the job in which Trump failed
