2024 Recruiting Class?

I presume we’ll rely heavily on the transfer portal this year.

We’ll be able to use Knecht as a huge success story example.
This, but don’t ever count Barnes out on a random late add that works out too. But if the freshman stay for second seasons you got 3 really good players in JP, Freddie, and eventually Carr

Fulky had 6 years because he had a season ending injury as a freshman and he met all of the conditions for a medical hardship. His 6th year was the free COVID year.

This is JJJ’s 5th year of play that was allowed because of his free COVID year. Same scenario as Santi, although Santi wasn’t at UT until January of his freshman year.

Santi, JJJ, and Knecht are all using up their remaining eligibility this year. There’s one 2024 recruit so far. 2 open spots if nobody transfers out.

I want to see Phillips develop. I noticed the first time he took the floor unlike most freshman he wasn’t tentative. He was moving with a bounce in his step like he was confident to be on the floor. He rarely seems to look to score unless its a put back. He screen hunts and looks to rebound. Something tells me there is more to Cade Phillips we dont want getting away.

If Tennessee makes it to the F4, this year, I can definitely see Barnes hanging it up. A second trip validates his career, especially taking a second program there ( and that program's first trip ever). He is an old school coach at 69 years old navigating a brand new landscape (NIL and transfer portal) that he doesn't love. He won't need the validation any longer, and he gets to spend quality years with his kids and grandkids.

I'll go so far as to say that I would be surprised if he continues coaching beyond this year if we make it to Phoenix. Double-edged sword, I guess. Those of you that hate him may get your wish, but those of you who appreciate him and his contributions to Tennessee basketball may want to enjoy it and soak it all in.
