If Tennessee makes it to the F4, this year, I can definitely see Barnes hanging it up. A second trip validates his career, especially taking a second program there ( and that program's first trip ever). He is an old school coach at 69 years old navigating a brand new landscape (NIL and transfer portal) that he doesn't love. He won't need the validation any longer, and he gets to spend quality years with his kids and grandkids.
I'll go so far as to say that I would be surprised if he continues coaching beyond this year if we make it to Phoenix. Double-edged sword, I guess. Those of you that hate him may get your wish, but those of you who appreciate him and his contributions to Tennessee basketball may want to enjoy it and soak it all in.
