Guess you could line up these kind of inside players and have exactly what you want to shoot 30 threes a game. A lot of offensive rebounding potential and putbacks on misses. Add these two with Jill that is about as athletic as it gets. They just need to improve their free throw shooting Latham 63 and Spearman 52

This tells me something if our first 3 visits are forwards

The good news is 2/3 have more than 1 year

The previous staff did very well in the portal, were outbid for high school players.

Sure sure, ok we’ve heard that a million times now.

We really only landed one really good player from the portal and that was Rickea Jackson.

Jewel still has a lot to prove, but I think coaching was her issue last season because she looked much better under different coaches in the ACC.

Alexus Dye was the only other player who was serviceable.

Jasmine Powell, Jasmine Franklin, Keyen Green never really made a huge impact.

Wells did not play enough to know what she can do at this level but the games she did play under Harper were not great. She’s a player who averaged almost 20 and 5 assists at Belmont. She was averaging 6 and 2 when she went out under Harper.

I think we need to add both types. We were going to be pretty thin in the post after next year, so we needed some younger players to add even if it’s for depth this year. After a few younger players are signed, swing big on a few 1 year players.

Yall talk so much about how she was killing the portal. And yes, she did bring in some players that were rated highly in the portal. But none of them really produced aside from Rickea.

Rickea was the only sure bet recruit Harper and her staff actually recruited while they were in Knoxville. Everyone else was a project recruited on potential.

Except for Wells imo, I felt like she was just overwhelmed with what the staff wanted her to do and wasn’t just playing basketball anymore.

Outside of that her best players were all players recruited by Sharronna Reeves and Holly.

There’s more to recruiting than talent hoarding… ask AM or LSU

This is my thought too! Get an elite player (or two) that can help us recruit elite players through shared social networks and who can be mentors to the younger players that we so desperately need. But we need those younger players so every portal season isn’t some harrowing Hunger Games death match to sign starters.

And how did the Reeves hire work out and why has no one else hired her since? There are some coaches who still believe in the integrity of recruiting and coaching and there are others that will land a recruit by any means necessary.

Elite for me is someone that’s capable of leading their team to a chamipionship. Examples are Kiki Iriafen, Juju Watkins, Hannah Hidalgo and Lauren Betts. HVL was never elite in my opinion. Picking up a few good reserves are cool but we need starters that can help us win next year, it’s not just about being mediocre like we’ve been.
