Jasmine Powell deserves more credit than that. Was one of the most heavily relied upon players this year after RJ, especially after the Wells injury, and appeared to pour her heart and soul into playing for this team.Sure sure, ok we’ve heard that a million times now.
We really only landed one really good player from the portal and that was Rickea Jackson.
Jewel still has a lot to prove, but I think coaching was her issue last season because she looked much better under different coaches in the ACC.
Alexus Dye was the only other player who was serviceable.
Jasmine Powell, Jasmine Franklin, Keyen Green never really made a huge impact.
Wells did not play enough to know what she can do at this level but the games she did play under Harper were not great. She’s a player who averaged almost 20 and 5 assists at Belmont. She was averaging 6 and 2 when she went out under Harper.

Would've liked to get her, but NC State looks like where she will land. I think Spearman has the potential to score and rebound like this player did this past season.
I'm not talking about coaching or whether she over or under achieved. Your post dismissed her as having no impact and I thought that was unfair. Sounds like maybe you just think she should have had more of a statistical impact, and I can see that point, but fact remains for me that I considered her to be an impact player in her time here and, imo, she deserves some credit. I think her name being dragged down just hit a nerve for me bc I hate to think where this team would have been wout her on the roster this year. We can agree to disagree on this and I'm fine with that.I love JP and thought she played her heart out.
You cannot deny she regressed under Kellie though. Sorry. Facts are facts. She looked like a much better player coming to Knoxville and never reached that level again.
Her scoring, passing and shooting percentages were all down at UT compared to Minnesota.

Powell did do very well metrically if not statically. She was always high on effective productionI love JP and thought she played her heart out.

My goodness, VolBall09, you sure have taken a turn into Darthville!![]()
It's possible to recognize need for coaching change and not claim that the players that chose to spend their eligibility at UT were basically worthless. If anything JP tried to keep things afloat last year while the ship was apparently going down and I'd like to thank her for her effortsJust very, very tired of posts subtly indicating things were fine under Harper when they were not. Usually I mostly dip out of the board this time of year and should likely do so and just return in the fall to cheer on the new team.

Excited for the upcoming visits and hoping for young talent to come join the party![]()
I get that, I really do. But considering Kellie just endured the loss of a major life dream and is, I think we can all assume, appropriately devastated for herself and her entire family, it might be kinder to avoid throwing gas on her already burning life.Just very, very tired of posts subtly indicating things were fine under Harper when they were not. The stats also show that JP had a big statistical jump from her first and second season as a LV. It is clear that the transition to the SEC had a big impact on her performance level. Not to keep digging the rabbit hole but how much of that was just aging up/minutes in the floor vs actually development. The stats also show that JP had a big statistical jump from her first and second season as a LV. The U of Minnesota might be a bit misleading unless what kind of schedule the Gophers played as well.
I am not too many here were ever signalling things were "fine" under kellie. No one debated that she needed to recruit better for example. There a legit point of criticism if you want to beat a dead horse over a coach who HAS BEEN FIRED. I agree with those who suggest leave the players out of it.
In fact, Kellie did pretty well on the player development front
On a case by case basis, Jasmine, Tess, Puckett, RJ all improved under Kellie. Karo looked better as well and maybe should have gotten more time.
Jillian is the exception and we have to exclude Tamari because of her health problems.

Lvocd, humaneness and message boards often are a contradiction in terms... I think most of us are happy to turn the page and discuss the new CKC era, Others seems only interested in re-asserting that they were "right" about CKJH.I get that, I really do. But considering Kellie just endured the loss of a major life dream and is, I think we can all assume, appropriately devastated for herself and her entire family, it might be kinder to avoid throwing gas on her already burning life.
You know how when people break up with each other, how sometimes the one who got dumped can't help but go see what the one they still love is up to? What if loved ones of the Harpers are checking out boards and Instas and such, as awful as that would be? What if smart little Jackson stumbles across the comments we're making?
I don't know. But it seems to me to be risky and cruel to unnecessarily point out every flaw that a person who is particularly vulnerable and hurt has. Maybe in a few months, maybe?
She's gone now. She's beyond devastated. Why pile on right now?
I think we can all agree Kim Caldwell is making some great moves, and it's as exciting as anything that has gone on in Knoxville in women's sports in a long time. I'm stoked!
I feel like we're just going to keep hearing more and better news as the next days and weeks pass. Go Lady Vols!
Cool!! So, do you want Danny White to fire Kellie again but with more vitriol? Perhaps drive her around K_town on a flat bed and let disgruntled fans throw rotten fruit at her?I would disagree to an extent about the improvement of the players. Their stats improved due to minutes increase. Powell went from 19-29 minutes due to personnel changes and the injury to Wells.
Since the others are still on the roster I will not extrapolate. I’ll just say that I think they’re going to look a lot different and a lot better next season.
Rickea played well under every coach she had. She’s just a super individual talent and I’m kinda tired of supporters of the previous staff acting like they had much to do with that.
The Sparks said what they liked most about her was her commitment to getting better on her own and expanding her game on her own. Curt Miller said in no uncertain terms that she has a crazy high ceiling she hasn’t even touched yet.
will never forgive her for madame webCool!! So, do you want Danny White to fire Kellie again but with more vitriol? Perhaps drive her around K_town on a flat bed and let disgruntled fans throw rotten fruit at her?
But, sure every player improved on their own; the team self-coached for every trip to the S16. She had nothing to do with any positives and was 100% at fault for all the negatives, including player injuries and bad ref calls. I believe she was also patient zero for Covid-19 and was the secret writer and director of Madame Web.
We all good now?
We need a post or 2 this year. Striplin was stuck playing Tamari’s sub, but she’s 6’3, really should play the 4, and she can shoot 3s.I think we need to add both types. We were going to be pretty thin in the post after next year, so we needed some younger players to add even if it’s for depth this year. After a few younger players are signed, swing big on a few 1 year players.
…but, but… “Previously Considering Tennessee”…Maria needs to move on. Nobody cares that she was recruited by the previous staff. She’s trying to give them credit for something they don’t deserve.
Making it out like if she choose Tennessee it’s because of the previous staff. Who were fired because THEY COULD NOT RECRUIT.
