Karolyn is extremely Intelligent. I wouldn't be surprised to see her at Vanderbilt or some other institution with extremely high academic standards to pad her college resume. Her college major and after-college plans will probably dictate where Karolyn lands.

Last season was actually her best season I think but it was similar to her freshman year at GT. She is a nice player, nothing to sneeze at for sure.

I think she would have 2 years remaining? Surely the season where she only played 3 games at GT before leaving the team and sitting out at Alabama did not count against her.

One thing I WILL say is Karoline was indeed a great student, and majored in journalism MIZZOU has a great journalism graduate program. Could see that being a quality fit if she wants to stay in the SEC.

They really don’t need another forward though. Their entire roster are stretch 4s lol. With Dembele out they need a guard. Striplin could slide in well where Haley Frank slides out though.

Maybe some coaches hold open the door for players they don’t see fitting into their program, but it’s more likely that other coaches have conversations with players about how they might or might not fit into the program. I can see CKC having her one-on-one with Karo, just as she did with all the roster, and explaining her system, asking players what they think about the system, if they feel they’re a good fit for the system. These young women are smart or they wouldn’t have been accepted to UTK academically. It’s called a dialogue between adults. It has nothing to do with Karo’s skill set and everything to do with what Karo wants and needs. Maybe women are just better at solving situations because I doubt CKC just pushed Karo out the door.

Yeah we should’t view her as a victim, but as someone who evaluated the situation and made the best decision for herself. Good on her.

This is the second one of these in the last 3 days from Skim Milkey. Not sure if the first one was hinting at the Striplin transfer, or if it was more positive news, i.e., meaning now two committed transfers.

I would think they'd want to milk the most publicity out of each one, have the most days of media possible. It's a big accomplishment for a coach w such limited experience on this level to be getting buyin fm portal players. Give each one (assuming there's more than one) their moment in the sun.

Impressive if Latham came, saw, and signed. Good start. But I really want Nye, Spearman, and now I'm hyped about the possibility of the pg Day-Wilson.

Ah, you might be right. It was the same day as the Strong announcement. The Stanford tree actually may have been the VanDerveer retirement, too. So much wild news in just the last two weeks it’s hard to keep track of it all.

That is what she did with the coaching staff. Coach Burdette hire was already leaked. I would assume that Coach Rizor was hired before Coach Tubner and Coach Lazo who were still working with their former schools up until a handful of days ago. UT officially announced the new staff together on Tuesday.

The players will announce their commitment separately. It is their decision to make and the moment is theirs to share.
UT will announce the new additions and Coach Caldwell at some point as her first official recruiting class.
The excitement surrounding this new coach, staff, and commits is the biggest headline of WBB. Kentucky and recruits are going to social media to post to generate a buzz.. a solid player averaging 10 ppg 5th yr senior on the phone with a former NBA player tells me they are trying to garner attention at KY.

Yes but that's the chicken and egg dillema. Take what you can sign or pass on them and gamble on elites only. Which can (and did) result in signing no one. KJH tried both ways and failed spectacularly. Left them dependent on the portal and players with limitied eligibility, which left a roster with crazy imbalance in class and position. Which reportedly was one of the main things that got her fired.

Everyone wants elite only recruits all the time. Reality is what to do when your only options are 30-50ish type players. Hope we can get back on track with all that in the near future.

Plus, Brooklyn was not chopped chicken liver. She never became a scoring threat but she could defend on the perimeter and really put pressure on opposing guards. Decent enough passer. While not a top flight guard, but she would have been a real asset this season as JP's backup.

Good on you. And, I believe you are sincere.

Having said that, I have seen nothing, evidential enough, throughout this thread to lead me to believe that Coach Caldwell "encouraged" Karoline to leave. And for several reasons; the first of which is that, though we appear to be recruiting for better athleticism (thank goodness) we are yet to sign (as far as we know, and though there are encouraging indicators) a single player. Why would our coach boot a known commodity, a proven senior, with so many still-unanswered questions?

Secondly, I think (which is worth absolutely nothing) that Striplin could be (could have been) an important part of this developing team: She's very capable from the perimeter; she can box out and rebound; she can at least play safety in our press. There's just so much to like about Karoline Striplin, especially considering that she's essentially played three seasons out of position.

Third, and more-bluntly, there are a few others I would expect to be sent packing before turning out such a quality person and player. Her leadership skills alone make her a keeper.

Great points. This poster is pushing very hard on a agenda that everything the former coached touched was "poison" and that CKC is having to burn everything to the ground to eradicate the deep rot.

Since the actual evidence does not support that take, a lot of adversarial conjecturing and rationalization is filling the void.
