I thought his powerful twisting swing wore his body out. He was always at or near the top of the leaderboard for a lot of years.Geez can't even get a hint of hope from my picks. 2 on the course. 13 holes completed collectively. 6 over par with no birdies.
I hope Bay Hill is this hard for everyone. I think Homa maybe shoulda skipped TGL last week and focused on Bay Hill.
But...maybe I'm overreacting. The leaderboard is only -1 with 10 holes in the bag. So maybe this will be a much tougher scoring weekend than we've had the last few weeks of -20's to win.
Sad part about TGL for Tiger is that he's just as bad there as he is outside trying walk 18 holes. He destroyed his body with his life choices, and his game has pretty much left him for good I think as far a pro competition. I'm not sure he would fare much better on the senior circuit. Novelty only attracts fans for so long if you can't produce occasionally.
Well, that kind of swing can't go forever in an aging body. He would have already had to overhaul that. But, couple that with his lifestlye choices and accident injuries and public embarassments and he's a shell of his former self. That may have been what he needed. He apparently was getting into too many things that says I got more money than I can spend.I thought his powerful twisting swing wore his body out. This is a big part of it. His caddie Steve I think was his name and coaches tried to get him to tone down his swing for years. He was putting way too much stress on his back.I thought his powerful twisting swing wore his body out. He was always at or near the top of the leaderboard for a lot of years.
-5 unless i had some holes wth all bogies. So you dun good.Tough day at Bay Hill. Honestly, I don't even know if there is a cut line this weekend. But, I've got three in the clubhouse at +2, +6, +9. Rory at T2 with -3 and two to go.
Field of 72 I think.
Only 15 golfers are in the red.
Lone leader is -4.
30 golfers are E to +3.
27 golfers are +4 or worse.
Gotta expect there will be a few break away rounds, but if today's difficulties are indicitive of the entire weekend, a -10 to -12 could possibly be a strong tournament.
Edit: Rory bogied the 18th for a -2. I finished at -8 with horrible scores. Homa was over par on 10 of 18 holes.
Boom Boom!Tl;dr

A lot of ppl forget about Fred Couples and how he could fookin crush the ball with woods that were really woods...because he was young and limber and had the turn...
Jimmie knows the turn is what generates clubhead speed...age affects the turn...at this point Tiger can't generate the speed he once could...tryin consciously to slow the downswing will eventually lead to fighting against gravity...
I still use the persimmon wood Spaldings that my dad bought in the 70's. Have had them re-planed, re-grooved and refinished 3 or 4 times. And there is nothing like pure contact with one of those. When you hit it right, no metal fairway wood is better.Tl;dr

I had a set of Muirfield Persimmons. Had a couple college roommates at ACU ome semester that were on the golf team. He had won them in a tournament and didn't want them and gave them to me to pay his month's rent share. At the time they were the only quality clubs in my bag. I was playing an ols set of Bobby Nichols blades that slapped your body around every time you struck the ball. Loved those woods. So pure and long on a clean strike. Which at that point in my game was kinda rare. My BIL had them for a bit. Maybe they're still around. Muirfields were sort of the premium persimmons of the day.I still use the persimmon wood Spaldings that my dad bought in the 70's. Have had them re-planed, re-grooved and refinished 3 or 4 times.
