Case for UConn getting a #1 seed:
1- Yes they are in the Big East, a very weak conference. But it's not like they are just getting by but are beating the crap out of these teams.
2- They beat the crap out of SC, the SEC champion in their own building.
3- They lost to USC, the BIG regular season champion by 2 points
4- They are #1 in the NET standings
5- In the latest AP poll, they are still ranked third, but have received 7 first place votes.
6- Vegas has incorporated them as the favorites to win the NC. I saw that the other day, but of course, this is Vegas and it could have changed since then. I don't think so.
7- Since their last loss, Aubrey Griffin and Azzi Fudd have joined the team after rehab from injuries.
8- Everyone here thinks that ESPN is a friend of UConn, but they are not. If they were, they would have found a place for them near the top. They are heavily invested in the SEC and thus put a lot of weight on their loss to Tennessee.
So, I don't think the committee will give them aq #1, but that is why I question if the NET means anything. Just my opinion but won't loose any sleep over it.
The best #2 would be the same as the fourth #1 anyway.
