I know we are not allowed to have our established Memorial Day weekend event this year. Since you appear to me to keep up with competitors' events too (to some extent), do you know of any other major football programs that hosted Memorial Day weekend events last year? And if so, who? I couldn't find any.

I’m not aware that we’re barred from having our MD weekend event…

I read a 24/7 article that specified the effect of the NCAA change on Tennessee -- and mentioned no other teams. It's buried at the end of the article.

That is a signature Tennessee event started by Heupel, among other things, to leverage the river as an asset.

I was trying to get more info before posting about it. If the NCAA made a rule that affected only Tennessee among majors...

Wow! So the NCAA made a dead period Memorial Day weekend just to prevent us from having our big event??? That is sure how it sounds. Just move it to the following weekend then.

The information in the story is correct, but the interpretation that it was impacting Tennessee’s plans was not. The “865 Live” event, as you know, has always been held on Saturday, and the four-day dead period begins that Sunday. So that’s just preventing teams from using that entire weekend for official visits or using Sunday or Monday for unofficial visits.

Tennessee’s “865 Live” is set for May 24, which is that Saturday, so nothing has changed in that regard.
