2025 OL depth

Heupel has valued OL who can play multiple positions. I think Pendleton can play G or C at a high level. My guess, based on what I have read from multiple sources, all of which are speculating, is that Pendleton will likely start at guard and be our insurance at C in case Satterwhite gets injured.
Yep, he was a very nice pick up. Before we landed him I was a little nervous about who would backup satterwhite this season. We all know how bad it can get if you’re forced to play a guy not used to playing center. Especially in the shotgun all the time

I believe our Oline will be much improved this year.

How are you even determining "depth" if you haven't worked out who the starting caliber linemen even are? And if a guy is good enough to start, then why would he want to be somebody's "depth"? Other than big-time NIL money of course...

Where is Masai Reddick? He isn't listed on the roster. Did he transfer, quit or medically retired?

Been wondering about him and Vysen Lang.. seems they're getting buried on the depth chart. Which, it happens, it's not like a character flaw, and it's not like they don't contribute. Just sucks to see no news on guys who have been in the program for three years

Honestly think we'll be decent up front this year, despite losing Cooper, Spraggins, Karic, and Campbell. Not to sound like sour grapes, because each were generally good overall for us, but it did seem like each had their ceiling and hit it. I'm excited to see the next iteration of the line for various reasons:

LT Lance Heard - healthy and conditioned now. He was a summer transfer last year, and was apparently banged up for the meat of our schedule.
LG Wendel Moe Jr - garnered a lot of interest in the portal (most big bodies do), but has that "upside" that everyone claims to know. I'm down to find out
C William Satterwhite - a blue chip who has had time to grow, condition, and learn from Cooper. Not an automatic handoff to true freshman Nic Moore, which is a blessing
RG Sam Pendleton - ND fans were sad to see him go, which means something.
RT David Sanders Jr - duh, he'll make his rookie mistakes, but locking down an elite OT for three+ years (god willing) is a blessing

And we do have some quality depth IMO--
Sham has played extensive snaps and could play both G positions in a pinch.
Max Anderson and Bennet Warren are two former blue chips with a year in the system-- we can work them in as needed instead of having to fully rely on them to start.
We keep hearing about the upside to players like Jeremiahs Heard, Gage Ginther, Jesse Perry, and Larry Johnson III. Get those guys some garbage time reps and against our gimmes, and maybe they become more reliable towards the back half of our season.

Lastly, not to completely dog a VFL, but Dayne Davis is gone.. I feel bad bc no OL wins 100% of his reps, and DD did win his fair share. But god, when he got beat it was always with cataclysmic results.. Hope I'm not throwing the baby out with the bathwater on this one, but that's how I feel.

Pretty happy with our starting 5, and I think we can find at least a couple/few contributors after our obvious 6th man Sham

I have no idea what to expect. Lots of unknowns at the position IMO. Guys who probably look the part but haven't really seen much playing time. Starting someone brand-new at center for I believe only the second time since this staff has been here? Hopefully it's this year's version of last year's DB group.

Lang transferred after the season ended, Reddick has stayed injured the whole time and I was thinking he would take a medical

Larry Johnson has improved. Don’t discount him winning the RT job and doing it well.

Agree. I’d be surprised to see Sanders start, especially early in the season.

Cooper was the biggest loss by far. Pretty sure Moe and Pendleton will be the same or better than Karic/Spraggins. Sham is a good 6th man.

I think Larry Johnson III will be a badarse, maybe a starter.
