I think we are reading too much into too little information. I doubt we have the money Ament wantsI was on the lake today so I haven't been able to keep up with portal action today. I just read some guys talking about Ament, are we actually in the running for that kid?
I mean I know we were in his top 5 but I thought we were at the bottom of the list on regards?
I thought I heard he was going for the bag.I think we are reading too much into too little information. I doubt we have the money Ament wants
I agree with you. I think people think he's gonna have the same impact as Flagg did right out of the gate and I don't think that's realistic. He's not as athleticI thought I heard he was going for the bag.
I think we end up paying some good money for at least one "superstar" but just not sure if it would be him or even if it should be him.
I know he is probably going to be a stud but not sure if he is going to be dominant as a Freshman. Guys like Flagg are kinda rare.
Think about a lot of those one and done guys at KY that didn't necessarily dominate like many thought they would. I know some would just blame Cal for that but I don't think that is entirely fair. Most of the time it takes time even for the very talented guys.I agree with you. Yeah I mean taking it out of the basketball aspect for a little bit, if I accepted a different job but I got thrown in there and was expected to complete a giant workload without experience or time to learn how to do my job as well as I can, it's not going to be great. IDK probably not the best example but yeah. The young kids need development, which is exactly what CRB is good at. Maybe Ament will see that.Think about a lot of those one and done guys at KY that didn't necessarily dominate like many thought they would. One last question for you or anyone else keeping up, how is it looking on Carey from Vandy?
I kinda like the idea of him coming here personally.
Thx, appreciate the information and insight.Yeah I mean taking it out of the basketball aspect for a little bit, if I accepted a different job but I got thrown in there and was expected to complete a giant workload without experience or time to learn how to do my job as well as I can, it's not going to be great. As for Carey, from what I've heard it's very likely he will be coming to Tennessee. Given that this upcoming year we will have 15 scholarship spots, I think he's a great addition to the team. He's not super tall, but he is physical and can make his own shot, and as we saw tonight, height isn't everything in basketball. He would fit well playing the 4 maybe the 5 but probably not. Could be part of a multi-player rotation. He showed several times this season that he can take over games, particularly against us unfortunately, but it is what it is. Hope he does come over

Former Vanderbilt center Jaylen Carey has yet to play more than one season of college basketball at the same school. He played for two different teams asbrobible.com
There’s been a turn of events, apparently. Ament is rethinking things, and even said he is watching the portal to see where guys go. There is word that Tennessee has upped their NIL game after realizing what they are up against in the new era.I was on the lake today so I haven't been able to keep up with portal action today. If you’re just using the straight up total efficiency numbers, KenPom doesn’t work like that as an FYI. Efficiency numbers that it shows for free are always relative to the rest of the league, so they are among the top teams at being significantly better than the other teams in their year, but they may not be the top teams overallI know this is a transfer portal thread and I hate to be that guy but in an analytics sense, this Florida team is the 8th best team in the past 30 years per KenPom. The guy who said it's one of the best teams he's seen in his 27 years is not wrong. In fact all four final four teams are among the top 10 teams in the past 30 years per KenPom - just a loaded final four. I agree from an eye test standpoint, it doesn't really seem that way.
I’m curious how much the baseline changes year to yearIf you’re just using the straight up total efficiency numbers, KenPom doesn’t work like that as an FYI. On another forum, we had a debate as to whether you can compare KP numbers across different seasons. I don’t believe you can. You can compare KP rankings, but like the poster above said, efficiency numbers are calculated for that season, and don’t necessarily translate from 1 season to another.I know this is a transfer portal thread and I hate to be that guy but in an analytics sense, this Florida team is the 8th best team in the past 30 years per KenPom. Punter was a 6-5 SG/SF who led the SEC in scoring. Gillespie is a 6-1 PG who will score some, but also distribute. They’re two totally different types of players. That’s a bizarre comparison.
That's exactly right. TT had Florida's number and was up big like Duke was last night. It almost looked like they panicked and got away from their game plan and started thinking about the win too soon.Pretty bold statement. Remember they aren’t even playing tonight if Texas tech makes a FT. Monumental collapse by them as they pretty much dominated the entire game.
It’s probably stable enough you could probably group teams into tiers or something, but wouldn’t be able to say team A is better than team B in different years just becuase their AdjEf is say 1 point higher. Which I think is what that original post was suggesting. But can say that Florida is the 8th most dominant team relative to their season in KenPom historySince the early 2000s I’d say probably a lot. year to year? Probably not much. But I think point distribution can change a lot. Especially this year. I think the mean was higher to you got inflated points at the top. It’s zero sum
