Let those 2 battle it out in the off season, could go either way

So we’re looking at something like

PG: Gillespie / Henderson
SG: Rice / Boswell
SF: Atwell / Evans
PF: Carey / Freeman
C: Okpara / Cade / JP / Brown

And like you said previously, Freeman can play the 3, so if he does end up coming off the bench he could take over for either Atwell or Carey.

you are not of the belief the Deacon/NIL can't close on Ament?

Should we take an experienced PG as the backup or do we feel ok with Henderson?

If this ends up being the case with the players Eric pointed out, I hope we can add one more scorer.

6-7 deep again may be a concern as the season goes on. Not much behind the starting 5, Freeman and Cade

Yes on Clayton. I don’t think Broome’s current game translates to the NBA. He’s certainly doesn’t have the size and athleticism to be an NBA 5. Doesn’t have the foot speed nor handles to be a 4. Seems like his body wouldn’t handle a 80+ game schedule. Been a fantastic college player, but I think he’s a bust at the next level. JMO

100% agree. Some NBA GM will make the dreadful error of making Broome a 1st round pick, and he has career back of the roster type of guy written all over him. Can't spread the floor and is a horrid FT shooter, both of which limit him greatly as far as becoming a modern day NBA 4 or 5.

Clayton, on the other hand, has some Jalen Brunson about him, and is a stone cold assassin in big spots.

I had a feeling Duke might let that inexperience show against Bama, who has multiple starters (4, IIRC) playing their 5th year of college basketball. Bama just couldn't throw it in the ocean the way they did against BYU. Sears was especially bad.

Houston, from a toughness standpoint, is a completely different animal and has experience to boot. When Duke flinched, Houston flexed. The 6-pt possession when Duke was up 14 was the turning point.

I've been critical of the effusive praise that Scheyer has been getting coaching a team with 5-6 NBA players including potentially three lottery picks this year, and in the one chance he had to pull his team out of the fire, he failed. To not be able to set up a play to inbound the ball when that is all that is necessary to secure a win is 95% on coaching IMO.

I hate using the word 'choke', especially when talking about college kids, but all Duke needed to do was execute basic inbound plays, take care of the ball, and make their free throws and they win that game easily. There were no adjustments or substitutions down the stretch to get ball handlers in the game and execute basic inbounds plays. That's on Scheyer.

Flagg will take all the heat, and he did come up small in the biggest moments last night, but they probably don't sniff a Final Four without him, and he carried them last night. Scheyer will skate, but to me this loss is on him.
