Nah. Too risky. Go get kids who already demonstrate the motor and drive to excel under Barnes. We've seen what happens to kids who aren't the most dedicated types when you mix 'em with Barnes and his coaching style.

Aday Mara has played in 61 games and averaged just 11.4 minutes a game....if that dude is "testing" the NBA waters then it's probably international. He probably doesn't wanna be in school and is ready to move on to pro ball in some form.

Cause his production isn't great

I mean, a lot of people hyped Tobe Awaka because of his “per 40 minutes” if you look at Mara’s, it’s kinda similar.

Tobe (last season in portal) :
15.4ppg / 14.2rpg / 0.8apg / 2.0 blocks

Aday: 19.9ppg / 12.5rpg / 3.0apg / 4.6 blocks

Very talented player that I’d love for us to get. We’ve got other guys so it’s not a big
Risk—plenty of reward if he gets serious. He could be a dominant big man in the SEC.

Yeah, someone will be tantalized by the size and believe they can get him in shape to play. Honestly, if Medenwald can't do it, no one can.

There was something weird going on with him. It boggles the mind that Cronin played him so few minutes against us and Utah State when he was so effective in both games.

Some sort of hard cap minutes restriction or something. Couldnt be conditioning this late into the season.

He was behind on conditioning, then he spent much of the season sick. Would be interesting to see if he can get in game shape.

Aday made huge progress from year one to year two. If he continues to improve at the same rate he could really help in the low post. Ivisic on the other hand still looks lost in the low post even though I agree with you that he is more athletic.

Not only would it be awesome to get Gillespie bc he's one of, if not the best portal players out there, but the fact that UK really wants him and we would steal him would be icing on that "sweet 16 beatdown cake"!

Also, did you say you don’t see any more hs commits for us? Thought we were looking good for the burries kid no? I guess CRB could be in win now or bust mode and all in on transfer portal but even in the transfer portal era hard to imagine not taking a 5 star freshman if you can.

Someone who knows how to play offense in the low post would be huge for the vols. Alvaro Folgueiras and Nehemiah Turner both know how to play down low. I would love to have both of them.
