2025 Transfer Portal Thread

First transfer to Vandy was following his coach there - that’s understandable to me.
No, I agree. But connecting the dots, which may be right or wrong, it seemed like things soured at years end for someone. And for him to quickly turn on Vandy with those comments, it's not a great look if you view it objectively (not as a Tennessee fan).

His minutes were really restricted in the their two postseason games. Not sure if these two things are related, but I don't think it's outside the realm of possibility that he wasn't pleased.

Privately, after his "black and gold" comments, and coupled with the fact that he's transferred twice in two years, I've felt like I won't be surprised if he's making those same comments about orange and white a year from now. Hopefully he finds what he's looking for in Knoxville and we have him for 2 or 3 years and my gut feeling was nothing more than fearing the worst.
I think it's more about him taking a chance to play for a prestigious coach and being offered money to do so. He "FOLLOWED" his head coach from James Madison to Vanderbilt. Maybe him and his family asked about some sort of NIL play and Vanderbilt didn't want to negotiate.

It's not an irrational conclusion to draw. Setting aside playing well against us, his demeanor made him very unlikable in our games. It's not hard to see where if that was more than a court facade, he could be difficult. I'd say we'll know pretty quickly because we've not seen our staff have any willingness to abide malcontents.

I've known Michael Richards his whole life. You don't know what you're talking about about.
That would mean you're his brother, sister, mother or father. You would have had to be there when he was born to know him his whole life

This is just the CLASS. There's a video interview out where Ament suggested he wanted to be in a good class. That could mean transfers too, but for this purpose I just used freshman within top 150.
Nate Ament is #4 PF.

Duke incoming : (based on 247 rankings)
#3 PF
#14 SF
#15 PF
#24 PG

Tennessee Incoming:
#64 SF
#103 C

I agree the Boozer brothers will be headlined just because... BUT Nate has played with this class before. There's a bit more "comfort" or what to expect.
If Nate wants to be a centerpiece like Flagg, I think TN in a good position. He can be in his own world per say.

Vols are well organized and have staff working analytics closely for roster construction. Really good listen today about this stuff on Basilio. The seniors in this class are definitely going to sue and get that 5th year. Zeigler would make about 40K in NBA G league and about 2 in NIL. Can’t justify having every class since Covid getting the extra year and likely class after this one getting it, but not giving this class one. Kids are already suing for the extra year.
