2025 Transfer Portal Thread

What about Phillips entering the portal?
Just lack stamina there, too?

I believe most of us know we still have good prospects coming in, but pretending we've just landed someone or that someone is leaving when it is not true is not only uncool but also childish.
I like Phillips a lot because of his hustle and desire. H completes as hard as any player on the team. However, he is limited in what he can do on the offensive side of the ball. He is at best, a 50% free throw shooter and he range in the paint is limited. I would hate to see him leave because he brings attitude off the bench. Hopefully he could improve his offensive contribution in Summer and Fall workouts.

Feel good about Freeman, but I wonder if Chad Baker transferring is a play by Auburn to get Freeman.

One has 3-4 years to play while the other is drawing retirement
It sounds like CBM isn’t actually going to be able to transfer, per Trilly. He has major transcript issues and apparently a massive buy out at Auburn, where he’d owe back nearly every penny he’s made from them. Will be interesting to see how that one shakes out.

A few weeks back, I said we’d take a big intended to start and said there could be two openings depending on how things shake out. We took Carey soon after. At the time, I said I was asked not to share about either situation. I had a similar situation when Dubar took a break. I knew why, but have been asked to not talk about personal player issues, health etc. Same thing now. They’re easy enough to guess, but I’m sorry I can’t confirm. All I can say is that both are fluid, and both great kids.
Dang. Based on the smoke, we could SPECULATE that this might be referring to 1. Cade potentially transferring and 2. JP not having a complete recovery. IF That is the case, then I wonder how much JP‘s recovery will affect Cade‘s decision to stay or leave. Of course, we could all be WAY off.

@Stoerner Fumbles if this gives away too much, I don’t expect you to answer, but… Does our staff already have options they are ready to pursue in the transfer portal if we end up losing one of our bigs “unexpectedly”?

Wow…never heard of a buyout yet in this NIL era.

The part about transcript issues isn’t a surprise. He’s 25 and doesn’t want to be in school.

Agree, never heard of a buyout to an NIL deal. From my understanding the NIL deals are entirely separate from the university so there is no $ connection there. That's how they kept it away from the NCAA rules and when the NCAA tried to intervene anyway they got shot down in court.

Now whether the NIL deal goes with a player to another school don't know how that works.

It would be pretty wild if both Cade and JP entered the portal and/or medically retired. We’d have basically zero returning experience outside of Okpara.
Are the days of watching a player grow and develop in our program for 4 years completely over? I was holding out hope we might continue to have 1 or 2 each year, but it’s shaping up to be a near complete roster flip every season. As a spectator that makes the product much less appealing to me.

Duke fans are in their "didn't want the kid anyways" stage. Would rather have Isaiah Evans over Ament if it came down to it haha
My friend is one and I’m already prepared to hear him go from “Ament will win a championship for us” to “we only want good players anyway” lmao. It’s what he did when Kennedy Chandler chose us, too

Yes. They are over. ZZ and Mashack were the last of their kind.

31.8 3pt% according to ESPN stats
He'll get more wide open looks with Jakobi. Why do you think Rice shot it so well. Rice won't get thise open looks at Niva and his game will suffer because of UT. Remember guys Jakobi can sxorein bunches, but he's a pass first PG. Rice's game will suffer because of that.
