Love Duke Miles but that feels expensive, 43% from 3 and almost 60% from 2, not high volume but that should also be fine here. Also a lockdown defender.

I’m sure I’ll be completely wrong, because this kid isn’t bad by any means, but this makes me feel like he will turn into a Mashack type player here.

All defense and barely any offense, which to some I’m sure that’s fine.

Aberdeen and Miles seem similar. I would think Rice they still can afford. That Freeman million helps a lot.

Exactly what I was thinking, he just doesn’t have much hype to him as far as getting us to our ultimate goal this season as a starting SG. Rice is so much better than him so it worries me if he is already a contingency for us missing there.

If we land Rice, then I’m taking him and not thinking twice about it. That would be solid 1000%

Last year when he sat out the whole year, yes. But in the previous 4 seasons he only played in 69 games total. Was that injury related, too?

I think it's been quiet across all the interested teams today for Rice. If he prioritizes money, he goes to USC or Nova. If he's willing to take less and play for a hall of famer, he goes to Gonzaga or Tennessee. I think all of the offers are probably within 500k of each other at this point. Each school has something a little different to offer.

I mean if Mashack would’ve shot 3 threes a game at a 43% hit rate I think many would’ve felt much differently about him

I’ve heard we reached out to Porter, Miles, Glover & Aberdeen…Stone was just a name we’ve got some history with so could make sense, no clue the injury situation though.

Having covered MTSU last year or two, Porter projects best as a 6th man scorer to me. He is an amazing catch and shoot guy but bottom 10 percentile in catch and shoot off movement which limits his upside off ball at a high major. He can make tough baskets around the rim and is good with ball in hands tho. He's not great off ball on defense, but much like Gainey, he tries really hard on ball. He would be a solid add for the Gainey replacement role. Think we might be able to do a little better but wouldn't be bad. If he wants to start, idk how I would feel about that. I know some bigger programs have interest in him tho so idk how he shapes up with Vols

I ain’t telling Rice to get, but If Aberdeen was content with his role as an off the bench defensive specialist/slasher like a few games this year at Florida he’d definitely be circled in my catalog, especially if another piece gets taken off the board.(and the $ made sense)

lol you’re crazy, he’s a big time offensive threat. OU ran everything through Fears & Moore who both ate up a lot of attempts. Miles was the 3rd option.

His last year at Troy before getting hurt he was scoring 14+ a game, then at High Point he was dropping 17+ with 10-12 attempts a game he would have done the same for OU.

My worry with him is his height mostly. Just 6’2”…would much rather us have a 6’4” or taller SG

We recruited him aggressively out of HS and were in a main group, had NBA academy connection, kicked the tires again when he entered the portal and then never heard anything but guessing that injury was a concern

Yeah if Gainey is coming back ideally one guard 6'5 >35% from 3 is my wish list

Again, if you can land one of those other guards like Aberdeen or Porter along with him, then I’m taking that over spending a majority of funds on just Rice all day long.

Wouldn’t be a bad haul because then you have solid depth from the bench.

I’m taking option B all day because of experience and actual solid depth.
