They can change all they want physically/mentally/spiritually etc , the point is not recruiting kids in 7th grade in any capacity. They are in 7th grade.
and 7th grade is when most of them make their mind up about the sport!
Maddie Hawk's younger sister has been posting BB drills and shootings for 3 years...and she isn't even NEAR the 7th grade

Again, missed the point. It’s not the sport it’s the recruitment of a 7th grader.
Speaking of missed points,,,its not the sport, it's the growth process

whatever,,,you and I rarely mesh
so lets leave this mesh alone

We are discussing two different things. You can talk growth and development, I’m discussing letting 7th graders be just be that. It works for other sports, basketball will be no exception they’ll figure it out.

Point Blank.. You have to recruit 7th graders and 8th graders in women's basketball.. If you don't... You will never get ahead. College coaches contact people to know the next generation... if not then you will have no shot unless you are UCONN or South Carolina.

Pat went to kids’ middle and high school games. This is not a new concept.

Why not 6th? It’s just great other sports manage, but somehow basketball needs a few year head start to “get ahead”. Some fans are about the kids well being over the school getting ahead.

Not really a fan of this subthread, but simply put, why not create a consistent restriction across college athletics? I get the thought that young women mature earlier, physically, emotionally and mentally than young men. Are not other women’s sports subject to the HS Jr. year restriction? Softball, specifically?

Chuck gets it
Yes, softball cannot be in contact outside of sending emails (not receiving) with coaches and attending camps. 9/1 of JR year at 12:00am coaches can talk with recruits directly/offer.

Coaches can go to games (no contact) and those are of HS age, send school recruiting mailers etc.
