'21 WA PF Paolo Banchero (Duke Commit)

He reminds me of a more athletic Derrick Coleman. Damn, this would be so lit.

Derrick Coleman had a solid career at Syracuse and a good run in the NBA.

If Coach Barnes and his staff can land Banchero, Chandler could have a boat load of assists every game with the current roster.

Jerry Meyer isn't no slouch either. He was one of the first to put his crystal ball in for Kennedy Chandler to UT back in late June, early July when we all thought the dominoes were about to drop.

Meyer has been fun to listen to on Basilio over the years. It used to be that Tony would ask about top b-ball recruits and Jerry would say “Vols don’t really have a shot”. Now when Tony asks Jerry often says “Vols have a shot with anyone they recruit”.

Maybe I'm just wanting to temper expectations, and maybe it's just my typical cautious optimism, but I'd still take this CB, even from a guy as connected as Meyer, with a slight grain of salt.

This feels more like a case of him projecting a bit, and I say that based on two things; his confidence level of 6, and the natural instinct to connect Chandler and Banchero.

That isn't to say it won't happen, but I dont know that Meyer is basing this particular CB on any new evidence, at least that I'm aware of. I would like to hear his explanation as to why he put his CB in for PB to Tennessee.

Definitely not a done deal. Just the fact we have received a CB for a player of his caliber is telling. We have had 5 stars in the past but usually the 10-20th best player. Getting a CB for a consensus toP 3 player in the class just feels like we have entered a new level as a program.

We have and if deacon Barnes can produce a championship or two we will stay there
