Right! I’m wondering if people here have really never known an abusive female. Maybe because I am a woman so I have been witness to it… there are many, and they expect the man to take it and at ANY retaliation they will be ready to call authorities.

I think we’re all bringing a lot of our own baggage and prior assumptions to this. The basic facts are pretty simple: guy and girl are traveling together in remote places; girl turns up dead, victim of strangulation homicide; guy is now missing.

Looks for all the world like guy did it. Only other suspects are rando wander-thru guy and Sasquatch, but rando guy is exceedingly rare and any evidence against Squatch will be blurry. So odds are Laundrie isn’t clean. But he does deserve a fair trial and a legal presumption of innocence, as we all would.

As to the question of whether she was nutty, sure, maybe, lots of us are. But I’m very sure whatever nutty crap she may have done to him did not warrant a death penalty.

It's highly improbable that an abusive male would take any sort of physical abuse from a female, or even be involved in that sort of relationship in the first place. Male abusers target women they can control.

I'm not saying there aren't cases where a male and female aren't physically abusive to each other. I'm sure there are. But it doesn't seen very likely in this particular case.

At the same time, people can only take so much before they snap, how many women take abuse for years then finally get a gun to level the playing field.
Only God knows the whole truth of what happened, since she is dead, and he's lawyered up.

That's true. But considering people saw him hitting her days prior to her death, I think we can rule out that she was habitually abusing him and he just snapped.

Their relationship was obviously toxic and often (per witnesses) would involve physical harm by both. It sounds like both struggled. We just both made observations that she exhibited behaviors that would be alarming if she was a girl your son was involved with. Laundrie also exhibited VERY alarming behavior and those are a VERY dangerous combination that lead to Gabby's death.

The evidence is piling up against Laundrie, but everyone deserves a fair trial. Nobody here thinks Laundrie is a saint. And if he is proven guilty, the way he handled it just makes him even worse.

In what would is it ok for a grown man to rough up his 110 lb girlfriend? Doesn’t matter if she scratched him or anything else physical short of trying to shoot or stab him. There’s no fair fight between a typical grown man and woman. To all you boys out there in case your father never taught you, if your gf or spouse puts her hands on you walk away - it’s never ever ok to respond with violence.

I agree, but unfortunately we live a world today where women are told how strong they are, and the media paints males a weak frail creatures. Men are given an expectation treating women with respect but too many women don't reciprocate and "nature" will take its course where the dominate dominates.
My daughter as a child would punch her bigger brothers as hard as she could knowing there would be no repercussions based on the way they were raised to respect women. After she saw the results of her 12 yo brother getting mad and putting his fist through a hollow core door she realized that was not a line to approach any longer......some women never learn....

The Fox News report is a bit sketchy as it indicates the parents informed authorities last night they intended to search the park this morning. It appears they went right to the spot where some articles and human remains were found.

Hate this. Two young people getting into a state of affairs that appears to have led to a murder and possible suicide.

They couldn't search that area before because it was under water from hurricanes.

Hate that a young girl was brutally murdered - hope the murderer suffered if indeed these are his remains. Wouldn’t that be justice?

Well, that was the area they told the authorities to search in several weeks ago because that was one of his favorite locations I guess. They couldn't search that area on previous searches until the water receded. The water receded and revealed the "items of interest" on this latest search of the area.
