You're a good dude. Have only witnessed you bringing good content to this forum. With that said, I have a general comment which is sparked by you but not directed at you.

MDs on a high horse (pun intended) who warn of the dangers about the non-prescription stuff people take or try need to seriously clean their own houses. Reign in the pharmaceutical giants pushing every possible poison directly to the public. Prescription addiction is widespread, rapidly growing, and imo more insidious than THC (or CBD in this case).

Thanks for the opportunity to vent.

FTR 1: I'm not a user of any prescription or recreational drug except caffeine.

FTR 2: I'm still salty about the pill-pusher MD who contributed to my Aunt's death.

Creating laws that don't let pharmas take lunches to MD offices or send them to resorts for seminars would be a good initial step.

Almost all of those type benefits have already been eliminated. They can't even leave a pen with their drug's name on it anymore. Gone are the days of free golf, vacations, and fancy steak dinners.

It hasn't done a thing to help.

In response to lunch sessions: if I'm going to take time out of my busy schedule to listen to a new product or new research on an existing one, it will be over lunch, and it will be provided. Reps coming unannounced, stalking the hallways, and demanding time while I'm seeing patients it literally the MOST ANNOYING thing I deal with in my office.

(...OK, maybe that and kids who won't put their cell phones away when I'm talking to them)

Ha, we're on the same page there! I get to deal with all the babies born to addicted mothers, whether it's abuse of pain meds, illegal drugs, or the use of dependence opiods like Suboxone.

Many parents are surprised at how I explain that their kids often do NOT need a prescription for their ailments. That doesn't happen very frequently with many adult providers, ERs, and retail-based clinics. We must remember that all medications carry with them some risk of adverse effects.

As far as the free lunches, my Pharma rep friends aren't just buying lunch for a physician. They're hauling it in for the entire office. It's clearly being done to influence the sale, not as a favor to the MD because of their time. There should be zero appearances of prescription influence peddling.

Bless you, sir. I wish more were like you.

At the same time, I get to deal with doctors and nurses treating me with contempt when I need help every once in a blue moon for the unbearable pain I live with every day.

Have you tried medical marijuana? When I'm old and arthritic I'm kind of planning to move to a place that it's legally prescribed.

No..but I'm not against it for people who really need it, and are not just looking for an excuse to get high, but even that is their choice, and I think the gubmint should stay out of it. I wish they could engineer some that had the pain relieving effects without the intoxicating effects, I would be all over that.

I just live with it now. It is too embarrassing and aggravating to deal with medical professionals.

Comparatively speaking about what kids get their hands on these days, both legal and illegal, I don't see a ton of issue with what the stores are selling. There are a ton more problems with opioid consumption and deaths in kids, accidental or not, than what they just shut down the shops for in the operation. Even alcohol is worse, IMO.

There are strains that are higher in CBD than THC. The CBD is the pain relief component. I’m sure some drug company has or will synthesize a version

What do you mean here? You can buy CBD-whatever you want now. Lip balm, back patches, lotions, candies (in some areas), vape cartridges, etc. You'd rather take a lab made version with god knows what over a natural plant? I think I just didn't understand.

You mean basically bribing them to push the latest and greatest new cure all, yeah that needs to stop. Unfortunately every doctor I know swears they do their due diligence before prescribing any type of pill. I don't buy it, we now have to name every ailment and act like treatment with pharmaceuticals is the only way to correct the disorder.

I suffered a herniated disc. The doc said I needed surgery. I said no thanks. I started taking CBD oil. Two months later I'm back in the gym. You guys can argue over it all you want, I'm sold.

No, no, this can't be. Government told me it has no medicinal worth at all.

You can’t hear the sarcasm intended in my last sentence. I hate having to resort to /s tags.

Does it really work that well? I have three herniated discs in my lower back and now three in my neck, plus extreme arthritis in my whole body. If it could just make it bearable I would try and find some. I've not been able to move much at all this week. It just keeps getting worse.

Here is one article I just found discussing the two components of Marijuana with regard to pain relief.

Which Is Best For Pain Relief: THC Or CBD?

You guys aren't really arguing that stores should be permitted to sell candy to minors that contains an illegal hallucinogen, right?

Even if you are in favor of legalization, that's a ridiculous position and makes the pro-MJ crowd look like a bunch of idiots.

Bruh CBD doesn't get you high its more like a vitamin.

I wished Tennessee had medical marijuana... Pain clinics in Coffee County have ruined my brothers life.

I hate it when people say that, pain clinics are the only way people with chronic unbearable pain can get any relief.

Disclaimer: I am not on any medication, and haven't been for years. My life is almost not worth living sometimes just due to pain, but thanks to people looking at people who go to clinics with contempt, I will not go.

So you choose to be miserable bc you are worried about what other people think?
