As a autograph collector, Obama's signature is very cool. And for the first time I see his actual handwriting, nice penmanship.

Maybe it is a clue. National Treasure 3?

slight edit

I admit that I, like all who were duct taped in their seats for 2, recall something about aliens.

Will be interested in response on why the date mix up. I'm sure it will be a reference to some obscure event.

Politicians should just admit when they make a mistake.

maybe 24 May 2008 is when the 57th state was admitted to the Union?

I honestly believe the 57 state comment was a poor attempt at humor.

Others disagree, but the inflection was there.

Nice. I feel stupid when I sign the wrong year, but I've never been off 3 years. Dude's got a lot on his mind, I guess.

Recalling a topped 3 wood that he was trying to draw around a trap to a tucked pin on a 140 yard par 3.

That's an interesting take...I always thought he meant to say 47, but it came out 57 (because we're used to saying 50 states)...

Well, it certainly wasn't deception...I would have to imagine it was an honest mistake...or he is an egomaniac trapped in 2008.

Really? Never heard that explanation.

I thought it was a bad joke. Could have mistaken the meaning. But, it sounded like he was basically saying he had been to so many states in such a short time, that he was overtly exaggerating the number, and doing so in kind of a weary tone.

I just thought his timing on the joke was pretty bad, but the inflection was there, or so I heard.

"Over the last 15 months... yada yada... I've been in 50... (drawing out the 50 for timing pause)... 57 (upward inflection) states. I've got one left to go."

The Alaska and Hawaii bit have me convinced he meant to say 47. We are just so used to saying 50 states...he started the sentence with fifty..,then paused...then said seven. I think he just misspoke and said fifty instead of forty.

It is very likely.

But, since he started at fifty, and then didn't just add the seven, but again said fifty and the seven, together, I put the choices as follows:

1. He doesn't know how many states there are. Unlikely, but possible, especially since 2011 is the new 2008.

2. Like you said, he meant to say 47, but since he slipped 50, instead of backtracking and saying "I mean forty...," he caught his error, and tried to turn it into a joke by exaggerating the number.

3. It was a scripted joke.

I rank probability at 2 > 3 > 1, with the overall result being a very bad joke.

Bad joke to cover up an error, highly probable, but a bad joke never the less.

Nevermind, just listened, he did just say 7 afterwords, and not the fifty and the seven. Puts probability of #2 much higher, in my opinion.

Anyone else notice that he put the day before the month? That's the way it should be done, IMO.

I refuse to do it unless I am in Europe or sometimes when i am corresponding with Europeans. I usually write out the month as well do they don't accidentally correct the date assuming I wrote it our way.
