My order:
1. Strong- dEfensive minded, history in SEC and will recruit like wild fire
2. Gundy- Great offense, history of success, but would need a great DC to make us competitive
3. Fedora- Offensive minded, good recruiter, very little proof of what he can do on the big stage. (he took over a program that had nothing to lose and was not int he spot light, teams seem to do better when no one is really focusing on them)

I see one acceptable hire on that list. And if it's not him, I don't believe it will be one of the other two guys.

Any of the three would be a great hire....but personally I'm leaning towards Gundy. I know we shouldn't (and won't) hire a coach based off of a YouTube video, but after seeing him take up for one of his players the way he did makes you realize how passionate he is about his team.

I like Strong the best of the three, simply because I think he can do some work with our defense. As long as he gets a good OC and some solid recruiters, I think he could do well here.

I like all three... however I would love to see Grundy here as I think a high powered offense would turn this league on its ear. However, since we have A&M to prove that theory wrong or right now, I'd be more than happy with the others. They all would be successful here.

I am on the Fedora Train right now (although I am just helping with the Gruden smoke screen obviously).

Fedora is a little bit of a gamble on the surface, I will grant you that. But damn the more I read about him the more I think he could be what we need. I want someone who is as hungry as we are to get back to being the best of the best. I am worried Gundy is considering moving primarily because is his disgruntled about control issues (correct me if I am wrong). Strong could be good, but he leaves me with as many questions as he does strong positives. His Lousville recruitment and his record there is shaky although I will admit their was marked improvement this last season.

However Fedora has been a head coach for 5 seasons, compared to Strong's 3. What he did at Southern Miss was nothing short of stunning in my opinion. He saw marked improvement every year culminating in 12-2 season.

His recruiting was consistently very strong including pulling in a 5* his first year at Southern Miss.

At UNC, despite probation issues etc (combine with only having one class that was his) he took the team to 8-4 under a new system. The really impressive thing is that he took a team that constantly went had a losing (or .500) conference record over the last few years to a winning record his first year.

If it weren't for probation issues his team would have been in the ACC championship game.

His first year of recruiting at UNC has them at #19 in recruiting for this season. Tennessee is at #27 and Louisville is at #74. I am sorry but using the excuse that Strong is at Louisville does not fully excuse the fact that he is all the way down at #74 while UNC is at #19.

My biggest concern is defense. Fedora would need a top flight defensive staff combined with great recruiting. He also has lost to strong although it has always been by only a few points on those occasions.

So ultimately.... what it comes down to is....

GRUDEN BOOM!

Ok so we are at Strong, Fedora, Gundy?
Strong looks like and sounds like he is staying at UL
Fedora could be the hire. I think I would still go with Davis before him. Cannot beleive we haven't interviewed him.
Gundy sounding more like he is pissed with his current situation. Maybe he is just looking for a raise. Although they were saying yesterday the booster was firm on standing behind his AD.

I hear Hart is going to ask all 3 the same question. Will you keep my main man Phat Sal as your DC?

Gundy is the only one that is intriguing at all. If it is Fedora or Strong I would rather dust off Fulmer.

Strong took an offensive-minded team, and made them a defensive powerhouse at Florida. If it were me, I'd just keep the offensive staff in place and let Strong bring his defense here. If we had had it last year, we could have been playing in a really nice bowl, maybe even a BCS bowl. I don't want an offensive mastermind, I want a guy that knows defense.
