3 seed is indefensible…shame on selection committee!!

Might as well play 14 Quad 2 teams and go 13-1/14-0 before SEC schedule. None of it mattered. Not the UNC, Zona, Texas, Tx Tech, Or winning SEC tourney. Not a single bit
We couldn’t throw one in the ocean against tech and we lost on a phantom foul at Texas. We win those two games and we’re a 1 or 2 seed. We should have been either way but those two wins and they couldn’t have put us lower than a 2 but hey take the 3 and a chip on our shoulder and go whoop some ass.

They interviewed one of the selection committee people when talking about A&M. He said quality wins do factor in with a straight face i might add.

Just don't play in the SEC Tournament anymore. Apparently it is meaningless to the committee unless you are a bubble team trying to get the AQ bid. All of the SEC NCAA Tournament lock teams should just forfeit their games.

In my opinion THE COMMITTEE picks and chooses whom they want to reward with seeding. Say If Kentucky had won yesterday, I believe THE COMMITTEE would have moved them into a number one seed. If the tournaments mean nothing why is Auburn a number 2 seed when most of the year they were a number one seed.

True. Also, if we can beat Bama (even though short-handed), we would have won the regular season title as well. That would have solidified a 1 seed in my opinion winning the regular season and tournament title along with the rest of our resume. That, or the name on the front of the jersey is the ultimate deciding factor no matter what we do.

We are a completely different team than when we played Villanova, we were still working out lineups and what did and didn't work. Now that BHH, Aidoo, and a few others have hit their stride and have experience/confidence, we are a much deeper team than even in Jan... ZZ has hit his stride as well and Chandler seems to be playing more consistent. Add in a few good minutes here and there from Uros (if he'd just take the damn ball and quit being afraid to dunk it) and we are a lot to handle.

Our scoring droughts and easy misses under the basket/close range will be a handicap, but if we can get past those and everyone plays with confidence, it will come down to the Arizona game, which will be a close one...

I get the "disrespect" complaint. But practically, UT ended up with a favorable bracket. Their 2nd round game should be against a Michigan team that shouldn't have made the tournament. The next round will likely be Villanova or tOSU. Then worst case they would draw Arizona who they've already beaten. I would actually rather have UT's 3 position than UK's 2.

I heard mention that Kentucky's win at Kansas was a huge factor in why they are esteemed to get seeded above us...but even still...it doesn't make logical sense.

It's a fantastic win, no doubt. Easily one of the best wins for any team this season.

But that's not the only thing that happened this season. Tennessee also handily defeated Kentucky twice this year, with the second time being just two days ago. So many have brought up that Tennessee lost to Villanova in November as justification for putting Villanova ahead, but why does that head-to-head result matter and our more recent victories against Kentucky and Auburn don't? After Villanova beat us, they later got destroyed by Creighton by 20 points—a much worse loss than Tennessee had this season. Does that not matter?

I guess this is a reminder that, in the end, this is all very subjective. It just so happens that our team was on the receiving end of one of the committee's worst decisions.

The real problem is the committee brackets are completed the Saturday night before the SEC Final even takes place, and it would be a major hassle for the committee to begin realigning them with only two to three hours before they are announced. Because of this, some conferences are now moving their schedules up to have their tournaments finish on Saturdays instead of Sundays. I imagine it won't be long before the SEC follows suit.

They should have more than one bracket for every scenario. If A&M had won they were in so having everything finalized a day early doesn’t hold water.

If A&M had won, they would have just inserted them into the first four with no need to realign all the seedings.

If the team keeps the attitude that the goal is simply to win the next possession, all of this will all take care of itself. A 1 seed was NEVER in the cards and the difference between a 2 and a 3, while annoying, is not deadly.

This team is headed to the Final Four. UT will beat Villanova and then beat Arizona - again. Go Vols!

Seriously....teams will start to bale out of these conference tourneys if they don't mean anything. Only ones who'll play are teams that can only get in the NCAA tourney by winning their conference tourney. They sure as heck don't want that....but that's what this predetermined crap will lead to. They need to address this.

Calipari has suggested that the SEC assist with solving this problem by ending its tournament on Saturday, allowing the committee time to reflect on the results. It makes sense, I guess, to give them more than an hour or so to consider the results, but I am skeptical that it will solve anything.

Really sad they put us as a three we certainly deserved a two and had consideration for a one. Not only did we have a better sos than both Kentucky and Auburn. We had a better Net ranking than Auburn and a better rpi. We were also 3 and 1 versus the two of them and yet they both get two seeds.
Is there another team that had 4 wins against 1 and 2 seeds (UK-2, AU, AZ)? How does that alone not justify a 1 seed?
