That is the most in the history of our football program.

Really proud of our team and our coaches. This is a huge accomplishment. Go Vols!

Improving the APR is a constant in CBJ's formula for success, winning in the classroom and on the field, and most importantly winning at the game of life. A school should be more than just a football factory. :twocents:

I knew Dooley could recruit.

He had a disadvantage trying to get the top talent so looks like he went for good kids with talent to try to build a solid foundation.

And when I mean disadvantage I mainly mean...Cheek and his standards combined with all the negative talk from The Legion of the Miserable.

We have a cross-section of young men who went from sanction bound to excellent APR status and the second highest number of academic honors...Cheek was present in BOTH cases...what's the difference?

Players like Bray that didn't care for the academic side of things aren't helping lower it anymore. Majority of those were purged during the dooley yrs, and CBJ was left a group of good solid kids. Cheeks standards are high, and ties the HCs hands behind his back. That's been discussed plenty, and apparently by some sources, even said by a member or 2 of the previous staff. So take it for what it's worth. Especially difficult when a HC is trying to rebuild from scratch, and purge the bad at the same in the SEC like Dooley had too. And no CBJ has not faced anywhere near the challenges. He's just putting the final decorative fixtures and touches on a house that was burnt to the ground, and built back up to the drywall. It was bare and now he's picking the interior paint schemes, fixture types, furniture, drapes, etc. Not really the hardest part.

It's funny how a group of people that give credit to CBJ for recruiting but never coaching the top draftee last year won't give credit, not even a tad, to dooley for bringing in good kids that allowed CBJ to have a good APR. Unless all yall think that all of a sudden after a few months with CBJ these kids learned reading, writing and arithmetic. With that he should get Parent of the Year awards too cause their parents have nothing to do with it either. Smh.

Shows how blind hatred can be...

Of course this is all imho...

No BLIND hatred for the guy...when I pulled for him most of three years, one of his bullet points was character and personal accountability...all of which he preached and appeared to live by. But implementation of those ideals DIDN'T TAKE and without firsthand knowledge of Tyler Bray's academic records,I doubt HE was the cause of that bar being dropped...He was an EE and I never heard any accounts of him being under scrutiny...simply one coach was unsuccessful in implementing academic discipline while his successor...with a proven track record in that department...was wildly successful...beyond expectations.
