4-2

Going to Ole Miss 4-2 would be huge! They also will be coming off games with Alabama and at Texas A&M. Could be a beat and battered team....or just really pi$$ed off I guess!

The Ole Miss-Tennessee game could be a crossroads game if we beat Florida and are 4-2. Ole Miss' best case scenario is to split their next two against Bama and A&M. Either way, that's setting up to be a good one.

If trees could scream, would we be so cavalier about cutting them down? We might............if they screamed all the time, for no good reason.

We tend to scoff at the beliefs of the ancients. But we can't scoff at them personally, to their faces, and this is what annoys me.

Boxing is alot like ballet...............except there's no music, and the dancers hit each other.

Don't ever get your speedometer confused with your clock, like I did once, because the faster you go the later you think you are.

I'm.thinking Mr Wallace is going to be so.amped up he's going to make some early mistakes. Will probably try to force some things to show TN fans he should have been offered a scholly

We can look past Florida as long as the players don't. That's the benefit of being a fan. We don't actually play the games.

I just don't get this fla is a win.. Bama beat them its not like they lost to ky. Yes bad game but they won.. Last yr was the best chance in 30 yrs to smoke a bad fla team n we choked.. This team isnt that bad so until it happens relax.

If VN thinks fla is that bad n we lose then what does that say about tn?? Oh the refs..we r still young....no talent???

At some point yes we r due n it should be at home but our coaching staff/players always choke it seems in this game.

This is your first mistake. I think we need to pump the brakes for a minute.

9 in a row guys. Let's beat Florida, then we can start acting confident.

Screw that. I'm tired of being told to "pump the brakes." We've been pumping the brakes for a decade. There is absolutely no reason we can't beat Florida if we play to our potential. Instead of pumping the breaks, it's time to go full throttle! Go Vols!

I agree. Let's eat this apple a bite at a time, trying to choke that sucker down whole can be hazardous to ones health. This is UF week, let's stay focused here for now.

Spot on. This is the team that will punch the gators in the mouth. This team has no quit. The way Worley has shown complete, unfettered confidence, is permeating the team. With AJ on one side and Worley on the other this will be a fun battle. The gators may be talented but are a hot mess at this point. That team will give up.

I bet this match up wouldn't have a noon kickoff either.

I know...... Have we learned nothing?

Have we ever learned anything? All I've learned is this forum is some sort of supernatural intoxicant that causes all members to sprint and leap to irrational conclusions and expectations.

A win (or moral victory) and "we're on the way back!", "butch gets it", and "Bama/gator/UGA fans are starting to take notice!".

A loss or an ugly win against an inferior opponent and suddenly "butch doesn't get it", or "we can't overcome the mess Phil/lane/Dooley left us in" or "stop being negative!! recruits read this and need to see we support the team!!".

We just had a moral victory and the offense was productive.....sooooo...... 8-4 or 9-3 is very possible, florida will most certainly be crushed under our collective boots, and sec champs, national champs and Hurd heismans are imminent in the next 2-3 years. It's VN baby!! Gotta love it.

It may just be a bad case of scalded dog syndrome from the Decade of Disappointment that's followed our Decade of Dominance but I have this nervous gnawing in my gut that we're about to witness the career launch of the Gators' next Heisman QB. I don't post this based on any knowledge of their roster but just an expectation that whenever things start to look like we may actually have the ship righted yet another perfect storm will appear to capsize us.

I know exactly where you're coming from. But it IS scalded dog syndrome. We're so used to being disappointed when it looks like things might be getting better.

I just keep hope alive! I have to have a lot of hope to remain as ardent a Vol fan as ever given these years of downright misery.

I just know that I will not be talking about being 4-2 here in a couple of weeks as though we're going to waltz over Florida. It bothers me to see people so many so arrogant about the game, especially knowing that if we lose it'll be those same ones starting threads demeaning the team and the staff for not meeting their inflated expectations.

That game will be up against A&M-Bama, Georgia-Arkansas, Kentucky-LSU, and Missouri-Florida.

Bama-A&M is all but guaranteed the CBS slot. If we take care of business against Florida, I think we have a reasonable shot to land the ESPN primetime game against Ole Miss.

Thinking/assuming we should beat Florida and ChatTown, this would be the first time the Vols have started 4-2 in a season since 2007, when we went 5-2.

Nice thoughts for a tuesday...

On our way too 10-2

Thankfully CBJ will have the young men in the right frame of mind. Inch by inch and brick by brick.

P.S.- Mental toughness. Individual. Work in progress. (Sorry just trying to see how many Butchisms I can fit in one post.)

Obscure D P Kersenbrock reference?

Nope, but I do like pool. What is the Kersenbrock reference you're making.

I miss thumbtyped on my cell, and it should have been, "heard of trees screaming". I had a huge tree up and die a few years ago during dry weather. I've seen some this year too. Found 'drought stricken screaming tree' references while feeding my curiosity as to why seemingly healthy trees die. The siphoning action in the capillary fiber of trees trying to pull water from drought dry ground forces cavitation, where tiny bubbles 'pop' into the fibers. Thousands of these occuring at continuously produce an ultrasonic 'scream' the human ear can't hear, like a dog whistle. But certain bugs that are predatory to stricken trees can hear the 'scream' or squeal and flock to it, speeding the death of the tree. Amazing ain't it?
