This is the SEC and probably the closest thing to the NFL. An SEC QB should be able to hit a 2 yard window. If a receiver has his guy beat by a step or two, the QB better be able to fit it in more times than not. Both JM and JG suffer from the same terminal issue. They have to see the receiver open to throw the ball. They can't throw anyone open. The amount of extra time that requires just kills the play. JGs Alabama game when Pruitt gabbed him by the facemask was as bad as it gets. This debate is pointless. The difference is suck is minute in the bigger picture. The big picture is that they both suck.
I generally agree. JM really can't do this. That overthrow to White was hard to watch because he clearly had a step. My unofficial memory thinks we had 4 deep shots and I think all 4 times the receiver had at least a step and he missed. Not accurate on the deep ball. Not accurate in the mid range. Not accurate enough in short range and not enough touch. JM has show a few times he can get in rhythm and do ok. He just doesn't live in that space most of the time. This is the SEC and probably the closest thing to the NFL. An SEC QB should be able to hit a 2 yard window. Sure the stats say he is accurate but you can see the receivers don't always catch the ball in stride. It impacts the timing. He’s definitely accurate in the short range. Two weeks ago 12 of his 14 completions were 6 yards or less beyond the line of scrimmage. People look at his completion percentage and automatically think it’s not him, but all of these dumb swing passes and short dumpoffs majorly boosted his stats and have been all year long.
