5-star DL Daevin Hobbs commits to UT

Is it perfectly fine understandable to understand they will never play a snap? No matter how bad or how long they’re here they will never play a snap.

Do we need talent? Absolutely. No one is arguing that. What the critics have an issue with us being dead last in pass defense. Do you legit think we’re dead last in talent? Maybe just maybe the coaching and the scheme isn’t making the most of our available talent. Do we legit believe the Vandy’s and the Miss State’s of the world have better talent? Bc those teams are better defensively than us.

The pass defense stat is overblown. What matters most is points per possession. If that stat isn’t even a thing you can look at points per play.

Or …. we’ve hired horrible head coaches for the last 12 years who in turn mostly hired horrible coordinators and position coaches. From Dooley on, there probably aren’t 2 or 3 coaches that I would want on any staff. Players come and go… especially with the portal now. Get the coaching right and everything else falls into place.
I hope you are right if they change the staff. There are some pretty nice defensive recruits hanging in the balance. Something about this staff impressed them.

If our defense was even average we're in the playoffs. I still don't get why everyone says Carolina is a sub par team. 7-4 and they played perfect vs us. 50/50 balls...slants...everything. We'll see how they do vs Clemson. Carolina is a good team. Just sayin.

Agreed. I'm not ready to turn on Banks just yet. Give him a chance to bring his players in here and develop them.
Agree. I’d like to see what these coaches can do with a couple full recruiting cycles filled with better players. If they’re still like this at that point then fine make the change. At least we’d have decent talent by then. I also don’t think better coaches would want the job if they see that we’re willing to fire them after only two seasons and we’d be forced to put a massive buyout into the contract.

Of course Heupel and White will make those decisions.
But I think it’s perfectly understandable for many in our fan base to think that Banks and Martinez have underperformed.

We're 9-2 with their defense. If we finishe 10-2 that's a better season than 90% of us thought going in. If Banks is the general of the defense, given what conehead left us, I'd say that's pretty danged good. As for Martinez - give him a chance with some talent and see what happens. If we were a talented defense and suffered the kind of loss we did at SC, they might have a point.

And the defense played a part (positively) in several of those wins. Yes, there was some terrible thrown in, but there was some very good as well. I've said all year we're three defensive playmakers from having a disruptive defense.

A Daevin Hobbs not only improves our defensive back play, it should improve our DB recruiting.

Whatever hiccups or setbacks we encounter along the way, this program is definitely on its way. (yes, even if we lose to Vandy)

The players got a taste of life in the Top Five. That expectation will be passed along to the next recruiting class. Enjoy the ride, volnation.
