5 Star Recruit Tweets Racist Remarks

It's my understanding that he was enrolled but wasn't playing.

This was back in the days when freshmen weren't allowed to play. Wilbur Jackson wasn't able to play because he was a freshman, not because he was black.

Bear wanted to integrate the team but Wallace was putting a lot of pressure on him by threat of withholding funds.

Wallace was not in office at the time. He began his second term as governor in 1971.

Gotcha. I watched a couple videos about USC Bama on YouTube but I don't know the full history of the time

"5 Star Recruit Tweets Racist Remarks" is hardly the same thing as "5 Star Recuit Calls Ole Miss 'Racist' on twitter."

Anyone who read your title would assume it meant that the recruit was tweeting racist comments, not sending tweets with the word "racist" in them.

Bama Writer Speaks Truth

#1. The title of this thread is totally inaccurate.

#2. The Klan does show up in and around Oxford with some regularity. The students at Ole Miss usually do a good job of shouting them down.

Our apologies on the title of the thread...

Should be...

"5 Star player heading to Alabama falsly identifies another university as racist"

The Klan has been to Oxford once in the past four years. Stop it.

You are naive if you think the University of Alabama football team didn't play a part in easing racial tensions in the state.

I just wanted to quote this again for lulz.

"White players are more athletically gifted then black players."-Bear Bryant

That piece does not quote Bryant as saying what you quoted him as saying. Try again.

In fact, it credits Bryant and Bama football with changing the way many felt about black people in the State. You know, the concept you just laughed at multiple times.

It doesn't quote him, but it says that that was the reason he gave for not recruiting black players early on. Re read it.

It doesn't tie that sentiment to Bryant at all. It says that many accused Bryant of feeling that way, and that's why he didn't desegregate the team.

The teams coach Paul “Bear” Bryant was often accused of being a racist for refusing to recruiting black players because according to him they were not as athletically gifted as white players.

It's a clumsily written sentence, but it is about others applying a sentiment to Bryant.

The last paragraph of the article:

Bear Bryant was very instrumental in changing how Alabama thought not just about black football players but how they thought about African Americans in general. His self sacrifice paved the way for African American students to attend college and to earn a degree and better their life. Without Bryant many people think that the covert racism that many blacks faced in those days would have continued to perpetrate, and would have slowed the civil rights movement and advances for all minorities. Although many people donÂ’t think of Bear Bryant as a civil rights leader, in some ways he was one, for the advances in football he made. He gave many African Americans opportunities that they otherwise wouldnÂ’t have had the chance to have. For all the wrong that was racism in the south, Bear Bryant was one individual who stood up against it and defied society in the south.

So you linked to an article that contradicts two different assertions that you've made in this thread. Well done.

I've made one assertion not two.

Ill find that quote....

And when I do and link it. I want you to say.

"I love vol4life25, he is the best, and Alabama sucks and are a bunch of cheaters."

Here's another fun fact: Paul "Bear" Bryant was under investigation by the FBI because of several lawsuits brought on by the black community.

You asserted a false quote and that the idea of Bama football helping to ease racial tensions was laughable. Both assertions refuted by the article you linked.

I went to five pages of Google results and did not find that quote or anything similar. You'll have to go further than that.

By 'several', you mean 'one'. And the Hoover administration watched a lot of people.

That's basically the same assertion. Bear and Alabama helping ease racism in the state of Alabama ties together.

And I'll haven't looked deep into it yet, I plan to later today.

Wait...this requires a lot of research...

Someone has done a very good job at wiping any negative thing about the man off the Internet.

I have found out he was a drunk (at one time),cheated on his wife and allegedly beat his wife.
(But the wife beating thing is just rumor so far)

So, in conclusion: you made up a quote that could have easily been disproven with a minimal amount of research and common sense.

I think we're done here.
