2-3 playoff appearances. Make the Final Four once or twice. Limit will be depth on the lines once the Vols have advanced that far. With 12 teams, line depth, I believe, will be the critical factor.

That sounds good

2 or 3playoff appearances, one Final Four
8 wins every years
1 SEC title

That seems like A) not impossible and B) should provide a happy fanbase

An SEC title could make a difference. Gives a first round bye so less pressure on depth. If the SEC runner-up is knocked out, I would think the odds of winning improve (tough to beat a good team twice in the same season).

It seems to me that a lot of fans of other SEC teams (and media pundits) have their own versions of Orange Shaded Glasses because how can 12-14 SEC schools plus all of those non SEC schools feel like they are perineal playoff contenders as well as us?

There was something posted about South Carolina having gotten info from Harbaugh concerning sign stealing that Beamer had gotten a copy of that to know what Tennessee would do offensively. Whether true or not, anybody's guess, but I have never seen Spencer Rattler look as good as he did that night.
There's no credible evidence it's true, it's a a bunch of circle jerk/copium by people who probably ran their mouth too much that year and got personally embarrassed by the result and need some excuse like that to save their ego. Truth is, crazy upsets happen regularly in college football, always have, always will. 18-22 year old males are unpredictable and hard to keep focused every week for 3+ months, it's why undefeated seasons like 1998 are so special. It's hard to do. Also, as an aside, alot of quarterbacks never looked so good as they did against a Willie Martinez coached secondary. We had a quarterback named Jonathan Crompton that had one of his best games ever against Willie.
