5th year of eligibility

it would not affect those players as they have exhausted all eligibility, and I am pretty sure that the 5th year rule is post covid students.
This rule is been debated for a while and with the court loss about Juco seasons not counting and why Kitselman and Pavia are able to come back for another season to their respective teams they pretty much are conceding that redshirt status will be the next domino to fall as it limits a students ability to cash in.

This rule is basically deleting redshirts, instead of 5 years for 4, you can now go 5 for 5.

Austin Price said today that he expects the 5yr eligibility to get passed in a couple weeks and that both ZZ and Maschack may be back next year.

I’m curious if this could apply to some of our football seniors like Mays, Spraggins, Karic, Bru.
Mays, Spraggins, Thomas, Eason are class of 2020.
So they played in:
-2020
-2021
2022
2023
2024

Any limitation on a student athlete's eligibility is a limitation on the student athlete's ability to market his NIL. I don't this the current half-pregnant model is going to work long-term.

AP may be right, but I thought I had read in another article that the rule would
not be voted on until March. May not include this years seniors. Hope I am wrong.

If they’re being paid now, and it’s not really about getting an education, why not just let them stay for however long. 12th year senior

It’s so late now, I imagine it would just be applied for players moving forward and not apply to this year’s seniors?

Spraggins already declared for the draft.

I doubt it would because most of those guys have already been in for 5 years. I like this idea of just giving the guys 5 years and 5 only and then just play them. If they declare for draft and go undrafted then let them have their eligibility back for the remaining years to play.

Coming soon. Play three years in college. Go play 10 years in the NFL. Then come back and play your last two years of college.

That is not what was said. Play college for five years and then you go to work or nfl. Play three years college declare for draft but go undrafted and don’t sign with a team then you should be able to come back to college and play for two more years. Kind like baseball kids get drafted but goes play college ball.
