6-2

We’re gonna beat Mizzou. They are not good in the trenches, our DL will be able to get more pressure than they did against Kentucky.
Yet somehow they beat UK 38-21 at Lexington. Mizzou is getting it done somehow, someway. Can't see us going there and snagging that one.

LBs particularly herring, Carter, terlander are all promising young talent. DBs are a different story. When is the last time we had any good safetys?
When you really watch McDonald, it's really hard to imagine we don't have anyone better or ready to play. Whew.

I posted on this earlier. I understand the Martinez talk. I even tend to lean towards some shakeup, however he does not set the allignment or call soft coverage. That is Banks. It works when your front 4 get pressure, however when it doesn't you get last season, and what you have seen the last two weeks. We need better LBers and S play. We need aggressive DB that can flip the hips and run. We are slow.
True but the DBs never break on the ball and play zone softer than fine Egyptian cotton

Herring looks slow in foot speed and reaction. He also has a tendency to be out of position. Can attribute some of that to experience for sure. However I see Telander and Carter growing so that bodes well. I think the Younger guys are going to be good in the secondary and I think Boo Carter may start next year if he comes in early. As to your question about Safety Morley was good, Berry, Nigel was pretty decent but not great. The kid that got injured was pretty good until the injury his name escapes me but Butch recruited him and his dad played here too

6-2 is excellent, all things considered. Florida loss sucks without a doubt, but UT made up for it vs A&M who, make no mistake, does have more talent than us.
If you have a bad QB and average coaching, it's hard to win against a good team even if you have much more talent. Vols have a good, not great QB, and superior coaching. If Coop had not been injured, Vols would probably be 7-1--with good officiating, possibly 8-0.

IF we get to 10 wins after losing all we did that would be a very good season regardless of how we got there.

9 wins is good enough considering we are still in a rebuild till Heupel has a full roster of his.

But I do hope he takes a long hard look at Martinez as a DB coach. It baffles me we couldn’t get more out of that position.

If we go 11-2 with back to back NY6 bowl wins, crown Heupel

Yea its strange because all I heard last preseason was he was going to fill the void of losing Theo Jackson...but he hasn't even come close to his production.

I have a feeling Boo Carter will play offense. Just a gut feeling. He's electric with the ball in his hands

Doesn't have the speed to play the position or the cover skills

2003-2004

And the last time we we 6-2, other than last year, was 2006

Butch started 5-0 in 2016, but infamously lost the next 3 in a row.
Incredible.
20 yrs since back to back to 15 plus since a 6-2 start.

Plus it is widely accepted Heupel inherited a far worse situation than any of the last 4 coaches.

I personally thought we’d be 6-2 at this point in the season. I did not expect Florida to be one of those losses though.
