#6 A&M vs #1 Bama 3:30 CBS

Experience certainly helps.....but so does talent and coaching.

We're supposedly a top 10 football team with some outstanding recruiting classes the last 4 seasons. I would expect there to certainly be some fall off from our best players/starters to our backups.

But under absolutely no circumstances, would I ever expect that losing 3-4 starters would mean that we give up 14 rushes from Bama or anybody else where none of our defensive players laid a hand on anybody until 10+ yards down field. And I certainly can't believe any fan could be good with allowing Bama their most rushing yards in 22 years....438 yards.

I'm not trying to be unreasonable here and I honestly don't think I have been. Again, did I expect to shut or slow down Bama given our injuries? No. But who in the world thought or now should be okay with what we saw last week vs Bama? Again, we gave up 438 yards rushing.

Bama is the best team in college football and it isn't even close. They would truly give the Cleveland Browns a run for their money. Please stop. UT isn't as bad you think we are. We are just hurt by injuries right now

Don't try to rationalize things for him. It doesn't work

So the truth doesn't matter? When someone throws out "it was their starters vs our 3rd and 4th stringers", only to be proven wrong.....that's "rational"?? Okay.

No, what's rational is stating the truth. Yes, we had 3-4 key injuries which obviously hurt our defense. A dropoff is to be expected....not an avalanche. 438 yards rushing should never, ever be accepted at the University of Tennessee, especially given our outstanding recruiting classes under Butch. That's Sal Sunseri amateur hour type stuff.

Not only were we extremely depleted by injuries but we were on the last game of a brutal 4 week stretch. Our team was TIRED.

Why is it so hard for you to realize that UT was disadvantaged in almost every way one could be going into that game?

Ok, I see it's useless. You got your story and you're sticking to it. If you're good with our defense being 108th in the country in run defense and 88th overall, then that's just where we part ways. Injuries or not, that should never be acceptable for Tennessee IMO.

You should be coaching our program since you're an expert at everything. Let's see if you can do any better, let's see if you can beat Bama, let's see if you can win us an SEC Championship. You up for the challenge....?

Now that we are out of the hard part of the schedule and we start getting some players back, our averages will go back to the norms. Defense won't finish the year with an elite ranking since we lost two of our best for almost the entire year, but we will finish up middle of the pack.

Dude, chill. Have you not seen the last few teams we've played? VT, Bama, and TA&M are some of the best offensive teams in the country. Come back to reality man

JRM, Kirkland, Sapp, McDowell, McKenzie, O'Brien and I cant remember who else on defense at the moment. Anyways that's 1st and 2nd team LB' s out. We were playing 3rd and 4th team against Bama. That is huge in many ways. The most important ones are in game experience and 1st, 2nd team reps in practice. That, along with O'Brien being dismissed, yeah he was good, McKenzie getting hurt and with Can being hurt as well made a huge huge difference with Alabama. That is what made Alabama look really good as much as their own players did, imo of course :) . The team Alabama played was totally different than Virginia Tech played. It's just one of those ridiculously improbable situations, in my lifetime at least, that we are now facing. I dont see anything wrong with coaching on that side of the ball. Someome should ask VFL34 what he thinks about the defense. I don't think from a players or coaches perspective that one would criticize Bob Shoop.

He seems not to like Shoop. That's ok, everyone has their own set of eyes and opinions. Not trying to be a smartass or anything but anyone who understands football knows what is going on,at least as far as defense is concerned.

Lmao, you got to be related to Butch or something. Feelings get so hurt when you hear a different opinion

Anyone else notice the chant/response early 4th quarter?

aggie started chanting "SEC SEC" & bama responded with "You're Not Worthy! (clap clap clap)"

Made me giggle.

Penn State doesn't seem to be missing his defensive expertise.

I was wondering if this really happened. I only watched bits and pieces of the game and couldn't make out the Bama chants in the 4th Qtr chants on TV.

Alabama fans were chanting bring on Baylor to the Aggie fans. Drunk aggies chanted back Furk Baylor and the SWC. Aggie tried to chant SEC SEC and Bama fans chanted back at them Your Not Worthy!
Hilarious!
Several Bama fans questioned their fairy dancing cheerleaders too. No one likes Aggie!
