In a thriller, #6 Tennessee won its first road game against a top-10 team since 2008 with a 73-72 victory at #10 Kentucky on Thursday.

I am not knocking other power conferences, but day in and day out the SEC is a tough Women's basketball conference. With very few exceptions, you have to bring your "A" game to almost every contest. Tonight we had two teams who brought their "A+" game. Last night was tournament type play. It was pure excitement!!!

Anytime your win committing 22 turnovers it is a great win. Giving them 22 extra possessions hopefully want happen in Knoxville. If we cut that to 12 turnovers and score on 40 percent of the extra possessions we win by double digits at home. It will be a tough game O'Neill shoots better in Knoxville than she does in their gym.

The LadyVols have a tough game coming up against 22-2 #22 Mississippi State. Hopefully the LadyVols come away with another hard fought win.

We had 22 turnovers and allowed Kentucky to get 19 offensive rebounds: that is 41 extra possessions for KU. UT had 33 extra possessions, counting KU's 19 turnovers and the 14 offensive rebounds we got. So a net of 8 extra possessions for KU.

We had a lot of turnovers in the first half, and gave up a lot of offensive rebounds to KU in the second half while cutting way down on our TOs. Our very good offensive play in the second half was the difference.

Good assessment. The potential bright side of the Offensive rebound disparity is that the LVs shot a very respectable 48.6% from the field versus KY's 38.6. More misses do create more opportunities for off. rebounds.

I don't have the precise stats but it seemed that the LVs did a pretty good in keeping KY from converting many of those extra possessions into points. I remember there was one series where KY had 4 to 5 offensive rebounds and never scored (and UT finally got a scoring fast break off that scramble).

I would guess about a 1/3 of the LVs were turnover had more to do with the players making ill advised passes, rather that being a direct result of KY pressure. Of course, KY's pressure may cause players to feel hurried and hence make poor decisions. I also think on some plays, the LVs underestimated how quickly KY can close down passing lanes.

I have two general admission tickets to the Kentucky game if anyone wants them. They may be a dime a dozen; I got them for a couple who now can't go.
