it took 47 years to get from 5 to 6. the SEC is now harder to win in than anytime in its history. I think we get to 7 sometime but not sure its possible while I'm alive. it will take a year where breaks all go our way as is typically the case for all National Champions..
I sure hope you are right..
I honestly think we will get another National Championship in 10 to 15 more seasons.
We will soon assemble some really good teams and with a little luck in scheduling and in a little luck on the field, we will make it.
All college football teams that win the National Championship have a few lucky breaks during the season.
The opposing team misses a field goal, the ref's miss a call, etc. etc.
Look at our 1998 season. Alabama is about to get within striking distance of us, but Lol and behold, P. Price runs back a 100 yarder.
Florida misses a field goal in O/T.
Clint fumbles the ball. Billy R. recovers.
The ref's miss a pass interference call at the end of the Syracuse game. Had that call been made, we would have lost.
UCLA & Miami didn't play each other until late November. The game was re scheduled due to a tropical storm in Florida. UCLA wins!!!! we move up in the polls.
Kansas St. & A & M play in the conference championship game and the favored team loses. This helps us!!!!
With the new system, we can have one loss and still be in the final 4 to get in the play off system. We don't have to be undefeated.... Win the S.E.C. Championship game, with either one or no loses and we are in the play off's.
