7th grader commits to USC

I read that it is some kind of infraction because he hasn't even been cleared by the NCAA to be evaluated/offered yet.

I don't think there has been an offer or evaluation yet. I think it is just a middle school kid who says he is going to go to USC. Just another way for Kiffin to keep his name and program in the news though. I think it is more overblown than anything. Similar to the Berry twins situation where one said he would come to UT.

didnt kiffen offer the berry brothers while at ut? what is the difference of telling some 12 yr old yeah you can come here or saying aver a legacy's kids crib that he has a standing offer? come on ... screw kiffin and whatever he does. he aint here and I dont care to hear about his antics to keep himself in the news.

I saw some videos of this kid earlier, and holy crap does he look impressive. He almost looks like a high school senior QB.

The kid and his dad were on ABC this morning. Had a good chunk of time dedicated to this. Mentioned that Kiffin called the kid up and got him to commit. Kiffin got a world of publicity out of this whole thing. We could have had a kid commit out of the first grade and nothing like this would have been made of it.

That said, the kid is projected to be 6' 5" by college, and has great mechanics.

PHP:
"The backlash following Sills' commitment has been severe. Most of the criticism has been directed at USC coach Lane Kiffin for offering a scholarship to a 13-year-old, Sills' father for pushing his son into the limelight and personal quarterback coach Steve Clarkson, who has pipelined many of his star pupils from Matt Leinart to Matt Barkley to USC over the years. sigh. already 2 threads regarding this. rule of thumb: if an article was put up over 45 minutes ago, theres likely already a thread on it.

There was a good segment about this on the news last night. This kids team played in Nashville this year against MBA. They showed tape of the game and the kid was not impressive. He threw 4 interceptions and was not accurate. MBA's coach was trying to make it clear that the tape everyone saw is an edited tape and anyone can look good in a edited tape. He said all of his 8th graders were coming up to him wanting to know if they had any offers.

edit. I found a link to a video of the story here... http://www.wsmv.com/video/22480900/index.html
