Pretty much what I expected this year. A fully healthy team probably would not have beaten Missouri or Georgia. My only concern is that Missouri absolutely whipped us in the trenches. Don’t think we anre exactly deep on OL or DL after this year either. Lane at Center was scary this year. Regardless, unless we drop a loss to Vanderbilt or surprise the entire nation and beat Georgia, this season is what I expected for the most part with Milton at the helm. I was hoping for 9-3 and considered 10-2 performing above and beyond.

One thing I said I hoped to see was promise for returning players if we ended the season with an OK record. At every position, I am curious who next year’s starters will most likely be, and who is showing star power, promise and where we should be concerned.

Nico will be at QB. As usual it seems we have some question marks at WR. White and Thornton will be back. Wrigjt may be back, but we know we have Sampson. Thornton will be back I believe. Nico at QB. What about our OL and others

Defense? I have no idea. Herring should be back. Who is the Freshman LB that was supposed to play so much this year? Haven’t heard much. James Pierce? Who else?

Anyone expecting any super senior seasons.

Next year will depend on whether a number of seniors return or not. We have a lot of OL and DL who can come back. If most of them come back (along with Bru), we will have a veteran team who can help out Nico and possibly contend for NC. If they all go pro, 8-4 type of season.

This was a trap game. We have blown them off the field for 2 straight seasons and the series really hasn't been close, even during our crappy years. They finally have a decent team and wanted revenge. It was obvious. Kinda of similar to the USC game last year in a lot of ways.
Regroup, we've got a big one in Ktown next week with a team that has clinched and maybe we can catch napping!

We are going 8-4 with these guys. Maybe some new faces is a good thing

Pretty much where I am as to this season. Next...who knows? Those calling for Nico will finally get to see him. If Coop comes back, it will be much better.

I figure we will have a similar record or better next year. Unless the SEC schedule changes drastically, Florida, Bama Kentucky and Missou will be home games. Napier, Beamer and Stoops will be coaching for their jobs next season. If Oklahoma is on the schedule, Heupel will have that one marked as a revenge game.
ThIs will give the Vols a chance, if the coaching and QB play improves.

Next year’s schedule has already been announced. We have Florida, Alabama, Kentucky, and Miss State at home. Arkansas, Georgia, Oklahoma, and Vandy on the road.

So Missou and South Carolina is off the schedule?

Trap game? Nah we knew Missouri was gonna play us abd we knew they were good. Hard to have a trap game against a 2 loss team. They just kicked our ass plain and simple. This team has no fight or heart when they get punched in the mouth. No leaders. Next week could get real ugly.

Hmm you think Mays would come back after all the injuries? I’d be shocked. But yeah if our entire team that could come back actually comes back, we should be incredible—assuming Nico develops like he should.

Agree with this. I actually thought Missouri could blow us out. Concerned about how our lines played and for the first time am questioning our S&C.

A blowout loss in Florida, Bama, & Missouri means coaching changes or a change in scheme! No more Mister Nice Guy!
I will give you this. The scheme we were running only worked with McCoy on the block. We need to get 2 TEs involved and blocking.

Brutal schedule next year and breaking in a new QB as well I expect 7-5 or 8-4 hopefully recruiting continues to go well. I think we could be really good in 2025 and 2026 depending on how Nico develops.

Most realistic post I have read in a while. We could win big in the transfer portal though and who knows? That’s how Eli reshaped his team—and hiring a new OC. Bama QB is night and day from where he was at the start of the season. But I like the realistic expectations.

Yep we need to hit the portal hard next season. I’m still confident we have a good HC in Heup. This was always a transition season and we lost some key and really good players from last season and we aren’t in a reload situation like Georgia, Bama and Ohio St. are. And don’t forget Josh is still a young coach he’s still learning I think we all got a little spoiled with the success we had last season and the expectations were significantly raised. 9-3 or 8-4 was my preseason prediction for this team.

Head-to-head series is 5-5 with Mizzou.

Offense had 3 turnovers as well as doing NOTHING with a potential game killing turnover by the defense in the very beginning. Defense wasn't great but the offense was atrocious. Last years team could strike while the iron was hot and break a teams back, this years team cant, especially on the road.

8-4 maybe 9-3 if we're fortunate and that's probably our ceiling from here going forward. Which sucks to think about but frankly with an expanded SEC and more SEC games on the schedule our future doesn't seem very bright. We can't recruit with the top SEC teams and it's not even close.

I agree. Looking ahead to the big game at home against Georgia and we completely forgot that there was a hungry team knocking at the door. Missouri has been good all year and the fact that we didn’t seem to take them serious until it was too late is concerning.

We don’t play Mizzou next year.
