Agree with this with one caveat…the loss of OL MIGHT not hurt us if the young guys develop. Lang, Nichols, Reddick, and Grant have all been mentioned by Elarbee as guys he’s excited about. Umarov is another. If those guys develop and/or we get some good portal linemen, we can withstand some of those OL leaving.Next year will depend on whether a number of seniors return or not. We have a lot of OL and DL who can come back. If most of them come back (along with Bru), we will have a veteran team who can help out Nico and possibly contend for NC. If they all go pro, 8-4 type of season.
A lot of these defensive guys likely wouldn’t get drafted, so I expect many to remain if they’re eligible. You are right, though. You can’t NOT play some these younger guys with huge upside potential on the defensive line and in the secondary. Pearce and Josephs are good examples that started playing a lot last year. This year we’ve seen Telander and Arion Carter play an active role as freshman. Time to get more of the younger DBs in the game too. Ricky Gibson is going to to be good.We are going 8-4 with these guys. Maybe some new faces is a good thing
Brutal schedule next year and breaking in a new QB as well I expect 7-5 or 8-4 hopefully recruiting continues to go well. I think we could be really good in 2025 and 2026 depending on how Nico develops.
Right. After starting 3-0 against us, we've won 4 of the past 5 and 6 out of the last 9 meetings. It’s now 6-6.
Yep. Meant to reply to the poster who said it was 5-5.Right. After starting 3-0 against us, we've won 4 of the past 5 and 6 out of the last 9 meetings.
So my point stands, besides joining the SEC when Dooley was coach (and to make a broader observation, the SEC east was so down that Vanderbilt was beating teams like Florida, Georgia and Tennessee), they've been a non factor.
