It’s already a trend . . . But hopefully it gets fixed.I think we should've been 9-3. That loss to Florida in hindsight is inexcusable. There was no shame in losing to Mizzou but the WAY we lost to them, frankly is kind of a red flag IMO. That's two years in a row of getting completely blown out on the road in November. If this happens next year it's no longer a coincidence. It's a trend!
Annually, there's not much for Vandy to play for, but beating UT will always get their attention. While I don't see us losing that one, I saw some quit from UT against Mizzou. Not all the players, but way too many. If that's in a team and the team doesn't have strong on the field leadership, it is always a concern. With the New Year 6 bowls and the SEC east gone, it might lead to this team playing out the string. Likely good enough to beat vandy, but uga and a bowl opponent will eat that stuff up. I'm so ready for new blood in this locker room.Let’s not put the Vandy win in the bag just yet ok yea we can go ahead and do that they are terrible and a 10-3 season is still possible. Beat Georgia!!!!

Heupel better read the room. When they watch that film, it's going to be painfully clear who fought and who mailed it in to both the staff and the rest of the players. Gonna beat a dead horse here, but Heupel can carry this "players coach" too far. At some point, there has to be accountability. I hear that from players and coaches year in and year out. Accountability, accountability. So when and how does that come? Does it come under Heupel? Or is he just going to keep putting the same fannies back out on the field no matter how they play? If there's never a threat of being benched, some players will pick and choose which plays or games to relax and others to play hard in. Now that most, if not all, of our goals are gone, it's going to be interesting to see who responds and how the rest of the season. And I'm not talking just about players here. I'll be very curious about how the staff handles a 36-7 laydown and some quit on display. If Heupel rolls out the same lineup, it will be a rather significant red flag for me. I'm starting to get a Fulmer without Cutcliff vibe from this staff. Cutcliff was the guy who demanded attention to details and accountability. When he left, things changed and not in a good way. Heupel can set a tone for the rest of this season and going into next with how he handles this week. I think we start 17 seniors and a huge number of backups are also seniors. While it's nice to have those guys end their careers on a high note, they have to earn it by their practice and play. If they aren't giving back with effort, they shouldn't expect a coach to remain loyal to them. And be sure about one thing...younger players do notice these things. Again, read the room Heupel.8-4 is fine, but there are two different 8-4s.
One doesn't build for the future, and one features young players taking their lumps, but getting valuable reps.
While I agree that there's always a chance in any game, I can't agree with your comment about a turd uga performance. UGA and for that matter, bama, don't lay eggs like that. First, they've got coaches who won't allow it. Second, those rosters are filled with 4 and 5 star studs. You take a practice off, much less a game, and you'll be on the bench and find yourself Wally Pipped.I don't expect it, but a win vs UGA is still on the table since it's at Neyland. So don't write off 9-3 just yet. Remember that they needed a late 40 yd TD from Bowers to beat Auburn on the road. They are every bit as capable to put up a turd burger performance like we did Saturday.
But yeah, 8-4 seems very likely. Most predicted 9-3 before the season. So technically 8-4 would be a disappointment. But 9-3 always seemed pretty optimistic to me given what we lost to the draft. 8-4 is basically a C+/B- season for me. And to be honest, that's an amazing thing to say given that it's tied for the 2nd best regular season record we've had in the last 15-16years.
I wonder if Mizzou said this about their Tennessee losses for the last 2 years as well? Tennessee will bounce back and put Missouri back where they belong. Our issue right now is consistency. Our QB is too kid-like and football is simply a fun thing he enjoys. He doesn't have that competitive streak in him like Hook.I think we should've been 9-3. Vandy has been blown out by every SEC team this year and lost to UNLV they are garbage this year, but in years past they can play us tough regardless of their record, thankfully Pruitt or Butch isn’t coaching us anymore. We should easily handle Vandy, but I agree with you we better bring it in the Georgia game win or lose and the bowl game. 9-4 looks so much better than 8-5. If you think about it we are lucky we aren’t 5-5 right now could’ve easily lost to A&M and Kentucky. We just aren’t a good road team away from Neyland that’s gotta change.Annually, there's not much for Vandy to play for, but beating UT will always get their attention.
