(8) Butler vs. (2) Florida

Hat is off to Butler. Solid.

Very disappointed in how the Gators played this game in crunch moments. But still, all in all, an Elite Eight appearance is definitely a successful season, especially for this team.

Helpful bracket. We had a similar one last year. You guys could have had a more gold plated route to the FF, and Donovan's inner 3 jacking guard killed it.

Jamie Dixon is somewhere chewing glass at not making it out of that region.

Somehow don't think UT fans look very good gloating these days. Might just be me, though.

It's one of the few things we have to look forward to. Why come on a Tennessee site and act like you'd expect anything different? I'm sure there are Florida fans that get a kick out of Tennessee's misery. I just wouldn't know because I don't venture over there. Not to be a dick...

Don't really know how Gator fans reacted when UT got knocked out. Wasn't very exciting, I remember that much.

Well, I'll remember how you reacted when Florida got knocked out. You came over to a rival site and rubbed it in that your team got farther. Congratulations, you should feel good about yourself.

great season.

felt like they should have won this one based on how the game was played.

the sports gods have been good to florida, so hard to complain about anything.

as i watch the tournament this year, and every year now, i find it more and more remarkable that florida went back to back.

+1. The moment you come to a Tennessee site to talk basketball when we arent playing each other is the moment you look like the nincompoop (word not used enough).

UF had 3 of the top 10 or 12 draft choices and 4 of the top 32. There's nothing unbelievable about that team winning it all. They had unreal post play in an NCAA bereft of post play. They had Grant on staff driving D, rebounding, post offense and smacking Donovan every time Green tried to take over. That led to serious consistency.

larry shyatt is the assistant coach who really coaches up the defensive side of the ball.

anthony grant wasn't on the staff for the 2nd season of the back to back.

the revisionist history about that team is amusing. when the 2005 season ended, if i told you joakim noah would be the ncaa tournament mvp in 2006, you would have died laughing.

those guys were developed into great players. they were not john wall and demarcus cousins coming out of high school. you would think those guys were a calipari type recruiting class of can't miss kids the way people will tell you donovan couldn't screw it up. it was far from it. do the research about who florida had to beat out for the services of noah and horford.

Kentucky had pretty impressive numbers last year, and they didn't win it. Roy Williams had a ton of talent at Kansas and never won it. Duke had the same team plus a top 3 NBA pick and couldn't repeat. Boeheim has had a ton of talent but won only one. And as pointed out Grant wasn't on the second year's team. It's remarkable how they went back to back. It will be a long time before it happens again with the parity of the league.

Hardly my point. Was just retaliating for earlier comment. Sorry if I offended.
