I agree, their losses are worse, but I'ts the way we lost that would bother me more... Well I guess not Missouri, if we lost like that I'd cry.
Every team that has a loss during the season loses in ways that drive me nuts....this one was no different. Was it avoidable? 100%. Does it make the Arkansas loss worse than Missouri absolutely crapping the bed or Bama losing to Vandy for the first time in like 40 years? Not at all. Arkansas has owned Tennessee for quite some time now.

I think we had the belief in the room we were going to waltz in and they were gonna lay down. Rat poison for two weeks of how great we were. Hopefully this is a kick in the nuts to the MEN on the team. I expect pissed off, laying the wood confidence next week. This is what a good team does with the right leadership. Let's see how we respond
Which is strange to me. I won’t name names but i spoke to a father of one the defensive players on the flight home from Oklahoma game.

He said the:

• is dialed in and focused.

• only game that matters is the Arkansas game,

•one goal in mind, to be the last team standing at the end of the year.

•upperclassmen won’t let this team lose focus as they remember the debacle in 2022 vs. Jr.

I believed him and thought we would beat Arkansas. Then I learned a player was out middle of the night late Thurs nt/Fri morning instead of being at home before class, practice and flight to Arkansas

Still control our own destiny but it may take 11-1 vs 10-2 due to loss vs Hogs and weaker schedule.

Purely a reflection of the top teams losing. Otherwise would have been lucky to be top 10.

We ain't that good.

Do you understand that your rank is in relation to others? Because so many ranked teams lost yesterday we were never going to fall that far.

In 2007 a 2-loss LSU played for the national title when only two teams could make it. They made it cause everybody else was worse. What would you have done on 2007? Declare no one the national champion because nobody was good enough to finish undefeated or with one loss?

Well I'll tell you, the last thing I need today is a lecture from you. Hey, you forgot to tell me I'm not a real UT fan!

I remember not too long ago when Vol fans would be thrilled to be in the bottom half of the top 10.
Expectations are big for a school like UT. We have a 4th year HC that has had plenty of time and plenty of good classes to get this ball rolling. It’s mindsets like you mentioned that kept us stuck in mediocrity for so long.

Still very overrated based on what we’ve seen so far. Without a serious turnaround, this is not a playoff team - and only barely in the top 20. Still lot of football left though. Not confident, but we’ll see.

Where I expected us to be. This is going to be a crazy year with at the matchups.

The B1G now has the most undefeated teams, but the key matchups are coming up between Oregon, OSU and Penn State. Indiana has to have the best schedule ever, with Michigan and MSU not being what they used to be, their big challenge is just OSU.

Miami is going to cruise into the playoffs without having played any ranked teams. Yes, they will play one in their conference championships but with 1 loss they will be in.

The SEC schedules are brutal.

One could argue that Bama, UGA, and Ole Miss are also not playoff teams. So who does that leave in the SEC? Texas? I think Texas will have at least 1 maybe 2 losses when the season ends.

Fortunate. Now gotta get back to who we are. All the plays against UTC and all the other teams should be in use. Get some shorter route trees with plants come backs etc
Throw in a slant, go for the 5-10 yard targets, involve the TE’s, use the RB in the passing game, maybe try a run outside.

Anything is better than what we saw last night.

If I’m Florida I’m copying and pasting the OU and Arky D next weekend. It’s time for Nico to show us why he’s making 8 mil a year.

I believe we're better than we were last night. I've got my opinions, but what's funny is when we have a losing record and someone says "we're better than 1-4". Somebody always say "you are what your record says".
We just have to find a way to mitigate all the damage we do on these ridiculous penalties at the worst possible times would be of great help. Our O line is what it is and I’m not sure we have a way to improve with the personnel we take the field with. I hope for improvement here, but we’ve been manhandled pretty good against formable competition and Nico needs to progress and read coverages a little better. But in all fairness to him, the O line is making him a sacrificial lamb out there.

Maybe, but Texas hasn’t lost yet. We certainly have. We don’t waste much time in proving that we aren’t ready for prime time. But, like I said, there are more opportunities coming up. I just haven’t seen anything to give me much confidence that we’ll be able to break the string of underperformance. Right now, we look like the weakest 1-loss team in the SEC - and one that is likely to drop 2 or as many as 4 more games the rest of the way. That OU win got pi$$ed down the drain by the performance against Arkansas.

And you think Bama looked better? Really - they looked terrible against a weaker team in the SEC.

The defense saved this from being a beat down score wise.

11-1??? 10-2???

I’m more thinking 8-4 right now. Seems at this point a decent defense locks us down and we just spin our wheels.
