We don't seem to have a very deep pitching staff with Serrano out for season.
If this is the best Cox and Martin can do, I'm not sure Kyle makes much difference...In other words, if those guys can't turn it around we aren't "deep" even with Serrano. I'm not trying to diminish how much KS COULD have helped, but right now...we have one SEC starter.
The KS the mlb draft guys think he can be could really help.
The KS we have seen his 2 years wouldn't make much difference at all
I was specifically talking about depth and while KS might be the Sunday starter, or the first guy in relief...if Cox and Martin continue to perform like this and CDS doesn't trust anybody but Kane and Freeman...our goose is cooked.
I'm all for giving the upperclass guys a shot, but if we are going to lose, I'd rather roll with the younger guys. Neely is at the point where he deserves a shot, he will make Freshman mistakes...I can live with that. Whatever is going on with Cox and Martin is a different story...this is CDS' wheelhouse, time to earn the paycheck, can't blame this on offense and defense...we're failing on the bump.
It's hard for a head coach to also be the pitching coach. I know some coaches are making it work but perhaps it's something CDS should look at
